Locations for a Coastal South Carolina Wedding

Myrtle Beach, a premier vacation destination, is located in the middle of a sixty-mile stretch of South Carolina’s coast known as the Grand Strand. The Grand Strand is nestled between two quaint fishing villages, Little River to the north and Georgetown to the south. Any one of the towns or communities along the way would prove to be an outstanding location for your wedding.

Many traditions associated with weddings have changed in recent years, including the location of the wedding. The perfect place is as varied and individual as the couple being married.

The Myrtle Beach area is well known for its many golf courses. There are nearly one hundred to chose from. The oldest of these, the Dunes Club, is over fifty years old and has been featured in both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. Among the newer courses to the area is The Grande Dunes, which is being proclaimed as one of the most beautifully designed courses in the country. With the many styles and designs to choose from, a golf course clubhouse would prove to be an excellent location for a wedding. Varying in age, sophistication and architecture design, there is one just right for nearly any couple.

Restaurants are abundant along the Grand Strand. The area currently boasts of over one thousand, with more being added every year. Quite a few of them are large enough to accommodate a moderate wedding with room for the reception. A beachfront restaurant would make a lovely wedding location with the beautiful blue Atlantic as a backdrop. There are many beachfront restaurants to choose from, as well as many fine upscale restaurants throughout the Grand Strand.

Vacation resorts are becoming increasingly popular throughout the country and Myrtle Beach is no exception. The advantage of holding a wedding in a resort would be the convenience of having the wedding take place all under one roof. Guests of the wedding would find the accommodations impeccable at any one of the fine resorts in the area.

The Grand Strand area has a variety of cruise boats that run along the beautiful Intercoastal Waterway, as well as along the coast. A wedding on a sunset cruise would be an exceptionally romantic occasion.

There are five large parks along the Grand Strand that would provide a beautiful location for a spring or fall wedding. Huntington Beach State Park has a castle that is open to the public and will host a wedding. Brookgreen Gardens is filled with not only lovely gardens, but many picturesque statues as well.

While many couples desire the more traditional church wedding, the Myrtle Beach area is still an excellent choice. There are over four hundred churches to chose from so almost any denomination or church design could easily be found.

Wedding chapels have become more popular in recent years and Myrtle Beach has a variety of them to choose from. They are most convenient in that you tell the proprietor what your preferences are, and he or she will take care of all the preparations. This is a good choice for having a less stressful wedding.

Whatever location you choose in and around Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand, you will be sure to have a wonderful and memorable wedding.
