Lollapalooza Artists 2006: Panic! at the Disco

The group began in Las Vegas, when Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, and Brenden Urie began to cover blink-182 songs. They named themselves after a song by The Smiths, and were soon signed up by Decaydance.

Even though the band never performed live, their first album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, was quite successful.

An odd move happened when their video for “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” appeared on MTV’s TRL (Total Request Live) line-up. The band actually apologized for its appearance there, saying that they had no intention of selling out. This gained the band even more popularity.

Members of the group have made a brief appearance in Fall Out Boy’s very popular video “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More Touch Me”.

The new video for “But It’s Better If You Do” takes place in an illegal strip club. Their new website has adapted to the look of the video, and has a Moulin Rouge feel.

The band continues to gain momentum by touring, and will make an appearance at Lollapalooza 2006.
