Long Way to Go

We’ve got a long way to go and we ain’t even studied the map.
We ain’t even planned our route.
We’ll get lost, no doubt.

My people we need each other, but we excel in putting each other down;
while we worship frowns and breed bickering sounds.

You’re better than me?
You’ve got a college degree.
Went to the best school money can buy.
Some of you purchased a lie.

You look down on those who ain’t got an education like yours,
at the same time you stand in the same unemployment line and dodge the same slamming doors.

Will the teachers of life stand up?
Or will we continue to look the other way.
We have a responsibility to our babies;
we have to teach them how to survive these streets.

Go on, disregard this. I know you despise hard-core correction.
It’s sad, we’ve been on the road all this time, but just realized we’re heading in the wrong direction.
