Looking for Artsy Eats? Check Out the Restaurant Too Bizaare in Jupiter, Florida

In Florida and tired of the same old same old? If you are visiting Palm Beach Gardens or West Palm, take a detour to the town of Jupiter Florida (not the planet mind you, the city), and tucked away in a small strip plaza is an offbeat little “artsy eats” called “Too Bizaare.” Not knowing what to expect two other friends and I, thought anything with a name like that was worth a look, or taste rather.

Entering the establishment we were greeted by a large overhanging tree (fake of course, but great effect), and a darkened collection of little rooms. The bar was straight ahead, the wood decor creating an ambiance of warmth and relaxation. The restaurant was made up of tables, for eating of course and couches, for eating of course. In the mood for something a little more comfy, then grab a couch (small table comes with), grab a menu and hunker down (can I use this phrase in a non Hurricane situation?). On the wall is an array of artwork, statues casually placed, and a fishtank in the middle of everything because, well, afterall, it is “Too Bizaare.” Much of the art decor is actually for sale, so you can have a meal and shop for that empty wall in your home all at the same time. Upon entering the establishment we were lead to a room on the right, a combination of red walls and wood, with a beat up table (done for effect I am sure), and we were right next to the window to boot. A waitress quickly greeted us and took our drink orders.

The menu was, as the decor, an array of usual and unusual fare. Right up my alley for sure. We began with an order of Baked Brie, again prepared with a twist. The Brie came piping hot and drizzled with raspberry sauce on top. Bread, fruit and crackers surrounded the Brie and right smack in the middle, a little honeypot of more raspberry sauce.

For dinner we chose three completely different “fares.” I had the “Too Bizarre Quesadilla,, the others ordered, ‘Pad Thai” and … are you ready for this….Chicken Parmesan and Artichoke Crepes with mushrooms on top.

It actually took us a while to come to final decisions, so many of the offerings seemed more then tempting.

Dinner arrived hot and beautifully displayed. My Quesadilla was prepared golden brown with chicken beans, corn, tomatoes and a swish of cilantro sour cream on top, guacamole and salsa on the side.

The Pad Thai dish was big enough for two, doggy bag anyone? A delightful mix of chicken, shrimp, noodles and crushed peanuts.

The eclectic Crepes also left no room for disappointment. The taste was as eclectic as the description. We were offered desert but passed this time around, too full to go on. We promised the waitress we would save room “next time,” and without a doubt we will be back.

So pass by the Olive Gardens, Red Lobsters, or Cheesecake Factory while you are in town. Opt for the unusual, the eclectic, the artsy….”Too Bizarre,” it promises you an unusual mix of flavors and cuisines in an atmosphere that would be “too bizaare” to pass up.
