Lost Season 3 Predictions

If you’re a fan of LOST, the serialized ABC hit, you probably have your own list of predictions for Season 3. LOST Season 2 is barely over, I know, but Season 3 seems far away and what better way to spend the time but conjuring up your own coming-soon predictions? In Season 3, what will happen with the LOST castaways- the ones who survived Season 2, I mean. Here are some LOST Season 3 predictions. Feel free to disagree

SLOW PROGRESS CONTINUES

I think one problem with LOST is that, as a serialized drama, it can’t do too much too fast. If LOST wants to stay on the air, what, five, six years, it needs to really keep the forward movement slow. Luckily, we’re not playing in “real time” here, so 5 season doesn’t mean the poor LOST islanders will suffer for a full five years in limbo. We, on the other hand, can expect the producers to stretch things out as long as possible. That can be very cool, if it means each week we get more tantalizing clues and enough forward motion to get us excited. But many fans believed this season was too slow – and hope Season 3 has more revelations throughout the season than Season 2 did.

The heightening of tension might be aided by the fact ABC is, I read, considering airing Season 3 LOST in two chunks – early season and late season – so we don’t have to sit through a million reruns. Instead, we see a bunch of episodes in a row followed by a break where we sweat it out, and then another bunch of episodes in a row. I’m not sure if that’s going to happen or not, but, reruns can be a bore – even if you watch for Easter eggs.

Of course, everything is totally dependent on how well the LOST producers do in Season 3 at putting things together. They, like a lot of shows, seem to play it by ear. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t.

LIBBY FLASHBACKS

I’ve read several places that Libby, the recently deceased therapist (or is sheâÂ?¦) played by Cynthia Watros will be showing on LOST in Season 3 via those handy flashbacks. She’s got some kind of connection to Hurley, it seems. But who else might she be connected to? In any case, as Season 3 unwraps, we will learn more about poor Libby. And maybe we will see Michael pay for killing her. I mean, yeah, he had to do it for his son, but, will the other islanders care?

OTHERS: UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
I don’t know how LOST can possibly make it through another whole season without really giving us some of The Others to examine. I mean, we have that freaky guy that Michael freed. We had some glimpses of them in the woods and a few other places, but really, it’s time to spend some real time with out favorite island villains in Season 3 and learn their whole story. Hopefully, the LOST creatives agree.

A NEW BIG CHARACTER ARRIVAL
I also predict that season 3, a new character will come into focus just as Ana Lucia did this season. The cool thing about the LOST world is that it has room for people to enter and exit at the will of the producers. You never know whose going to pop in. Over the spring and summer I bet we’ll hear about the next cool cast members joining Jack, Sayid, Locke and the rest. Maybe they’ll cast a cool actor as an Other, that would be good. Get some high powered people in there as the villains.

COSMIC CONNECTIONS REALIZED
LOST is so famous for all its crazy connections and combinations. They’re sneaky, but they’re also accessible enough that even the editors of TVGuide can pick up on them. (What?) Season 3 will likely have many more weird appearances of things like castaway family members colliding in the past, Hurley’s numbers being bandied about, and clues to whose really running the island show. But along with the new, I think we will have some of the things we’ve already seen in flashbacks come into play and be realized by the castaways. Which flashback situations, I don’t know. But it only makes sense that after two seasons of piling on the coincidences, you have to actually do something with some of them now.

KATE ANDSOMEBODY
I kind of don’t dig the character of Kate. She’s tough, sure, but doesn’t it sometimes seem she’s only there to be a pull toy between Jack and Sawyer? Now that the square is back to a triangle – following Ana Lucia’s death – I guess we’re back to the two alpha dogs squaring off for the girl. And I don’t imagine they can go an entire other season without Kate getting with one of the two. Probably Jack. But who knows what other man may come around the next corner? That’s the glory of LOST. We can predict all we want, but we never really know!
