The Uptop Lounge is Madison’s only outdoor garden lounge, and overlooks the State Capitol and State Street in downtown Wisconsin. The lounge attracts college students, young professionals, and a variety of crowds looking for a new venue to socialize in Madison’s busy downtown district. The attractive outdoor bar and spacious setting permits dancing, socializing, and great food. The lounge also caters to large groups and parties, and welcomes reservations for booking. Complete rooftop bars such as the Uptop are few and far between in Madison, but most bars do feature dance floors and entertainment opportunities.
The area that the lounge occupies today was formerly extra seating area for the gyro restaurant, Parthenon Gyros below. This has quickly been transformed to create space for a full bar, DJ station, and dance floor/seating area. The dÃ?©cor is a complete change from the restaurant below, and boasts a paradise-oriented environment. Food is served until bar time in most cases, and this will attract a large crowd on Madison’s busy weekends. Madison’s State Street is notorious for large crowds in the summer, and the Uptop Lounge can cater to the diversity of its patrons.
Outdoor lounges and rooftop bars are most popular in notable cities such as Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, and even Milwaukee. The concept became a trendy favorite in South America amongst Cuban villas, and the Hotel Casa Grande in Cuba features one highly-frequented destination. Other glitzy bars in Mexico City attract patrons yearround, especially during the spring break season. The nightlife in Japan is home to a variety of outdoor venues, and serves as a destination for national and local travelers alike. Worldwide locations do depend on general climate and ability to stay open until bartime; restrictions vary by country. Dublin, Ireland features the famous Guinness rooftop bar, while Las Vegas is home to a variety of hotels and resorts with outdoor bars and entertainment areas with panoramic views.
