Making a Mason Jar Soap Dispenser
Then, you’ll need a seal and a screw on ring to fit the opening of each jar. The seal is a flat metal round top that fits inside the ring. The screw on ring is a round, metal piece that holds the seal on tight.
You will also need a soap dispenser pump for each Mason Jar Soap Dispenser you want to make. The pumps will need to be the “two part” type that come apart. The feeding tubes will need to be long enough to reach the bottom of the Mason jars too. You can find these at your local craft store or on the Internet. Or, you can save pumps from old soap dispensers. And, you will need a rubber washer that has a hole that is the same size as the tube of each pump.
And finally, you’ll need decorations for your Mason Jar Soap Dispensers. If you want to decorate them for Christmas, you might consider using Holly, green and red ribbons and bows, small ornaments, and the like. Or, if you want to use your dispensers all Winter long, you may choose to decorate them with small plastic snowflakes, pine trees, white ribbons, et cetera. Do you need a gift for a July birthday? Find red, white and blue ribbons, American flags, and other patriotic decorations. A Fall birthday gift can be decorated with golden leaves and other foliage- you get the idea. You can spruce up the Mason jar as plain or as fancy as you choose.
You can also leave the jar, seal, and the screw on ring plain colored. Or, you can paint them using whatever colors you choose. You can even paint the outside of the jar or cover it with pretty cloth. The possibilities are nearly endless!
Before you decorate your Mason Jar Soap Dispenser, you should assemble it first. To do this, you’ll need to place the rubber washer in the middle of the metal seal. Use a lead pencil to mark the inside diameter. Then, drill a hole into the seal that is the size of the mark. Carefully clean off any metal shavings before you proceed. Glue the rubber washer over the hole in the seal with a waterproof glue.
The next step is to unscrew the ring from the soap dispenser pump. Place the tube of the pump into the hole in the seal. Screw it down tightly, place the
seal on the jar, and screw on the ring.
Finally, allow the waterproof glue to thoroughly dry before you decorate your Mason Jar Soap Dispenser.
