McDonalds Made Me Fat

I am sure most of you have heard about this outrageous lawsuit. “McDonalds made me fat, so I’m going to make them pay.” The first thing I did when I heard this was laugh. The second thing was to get angry. Angry at our judicial system, for even allowing lawsuits like this to be accepted into the courts. What’s next, suing the grocery stores for selling fattening foods? Seriously, in no way has McDonalds or any other fast food restaurant made anyone fat. Nobody if forced to eat there. But, if you eat there you get to choose what you want to eat. If you decide to eat burger after burger every day, you are choosing to eat unhealthy. If the only exercise you get each day is opening your car door and walking into a fast food restaurant, that’s why you’re overweight. And for the people that are upset because they got fat from eating the chicken nuggets, because chicken is supposedly healthier than hamburger. Who ever said deep fried chicken is healthier than burgers? I don’t remember learning that in health class. I guess technically fried chicken nuggets could be healthier than burgers, if you eat four and not twenty.

Also, if I remember correctly, McDonalds has been serving salads for at least 10 years. It would be pretty hard to get fat if you chose salads over burgers and French fries three times a day. Maybe add a little exercise during the week to that, and you’ll be pretty healthy. I know it’s not always that easy though. If it were, most Americans wouldn’t be overweight. But, there are McDonalds all over the world. We don’t hear about other countries suffering from the same obesity problems that America is. So, is it really the fault of fast food restaurants? If it were, wouldn’t the rest of the world be tipping the scales as well? Blaming the fast food restaurants that offer a service that should only be used once in a while is pretty ridiculous. Every person that is overweight honestly knows whose fault it is. They can only blame themselves and their bad decisions. What these people need to do is stop blaming other people and do something to help them become healthier. They need to stop tying up the courts and judges, so real crimes can be brought to justice faster.
