Medford, Wisconsin: A Year-Round Source of Enjoyment and Relaxation

Being such a small town with a population of only 4,350, one must look beyond the surface to see what Medford, Wisconsin
really has to offer. Medford has a lot happening year-round.

Summer events include a large 4th of July celebration, complete with, of course, fireworks, and food, music and fun.

The annual car show is usually held at the end of July. This is a great time to gather at the city park and view some beautiful old cars as well as get some great food and listen to music.

The county fair, usually held in early August, has a lot to offer. There is the traditional Demolition Derby, as well as the cattle barns and shows, rides, Bingo, and tons of crafts.

Medford has two beautiful golf courses. One is located on County Highway “O” and is called Black River Golf Club. The other is Tee-Hi Golf Course located right in town. Both hold many golf tournaments throughout the summer.

The fun doesn’t stop in Medford when the snow falls. There are many trails through Taylor County for Snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Ice fishing is also a great way to break the winter blues on any of the lakes in the surrounding area.

Shopping can be a treat in Medford as well, but once again, you must know where to look. There are many little shops located all over town. One such store is called The Little Store. This is located on Main Street and is full of crafts, mostly created by elderly citizens of Taylor County. This store is a way for them to show off their wonderful skills and offer some unique gifts. Another fun store is Cobblestone Cottage, located on Highway 13 North. This store is so full of unique items, it is easy to miss many of them. This is a great place to slow down and look for a neat gift for that special someone. They have tons of candles and knick knacks that you won’t find anywhere else. If you are into NASCAR and football items, be sure to check out the Ben Franklin store on Main Street. Tucked back in the corner is a great selection of gifts for that hard-to-buy-for sports fan on your list.

If the need should arise, Medford is also home to a very nice clinic and hospital with many professionals available to help you in your time of medical need.

There are numerous hotels in town to offer you a place to rest your head, as well as a wide variety of restaurants, from fast food to supper clubs. Again, some of these places you might drive right by. One great place to eat is located right on Highway 13 in town called the 8th Street Saloon. Great, laid-back atmosphere and great food. If you so wish to venture a little farther out of town, a fabulous place for a fancy meal is High View Inn. They have wonderful seafood and steaks there.

Whatever your wants or needs are, chances you will find something to satisfy your appetite in Medford.
