Missing Man Shocks and Terrifies Local Community
Pitman’s neighbors and friends are terrified and mourning his loss. “He was such a good guy,” Abigail Martin, 48, said. “Every morning he was always knocked on my door and gave me his newspaper.” Christina Pecos, 24, was working at the Hornet’s Nest that night. “I can’t imagine anyone wanting hurt or kill such a nice man.” His family have no idea what’s going on, but they refused to comment on his disappearance. However, in a statement Pitman’s wife, Jane Pitman said, “We just want him back.”
Police can only speculate but they assume Pitman was followed by someone from the Hornet’s Nest Bar and Lounge. “We have eyewitnesses to report that he was followed out of the Hornet’s Nest after closing,” Officer Michael Howard commented. “It will only be a matter of time before we can positively identify his assailant.” Howard was decorated and honored by the city and county for his services in finding Timmy Friendly last year.
There have been no other reported cases of similar disappearances in the area. Pitman’s abduction might be the first in a series, police warn. “We will put out a city wide search for any sign of Mr. Pitman and his abductor,” Howard assured. “However, if we do not act fast, others may be taken.”
