Mother’s Day Ideas That Won’t Break the Bank
âÂ?¢Write a poem. Every other line doesn’t have to rhyme, but a bit of prose will definitely be a piece of your work she’ll treasure forever. Take it a step further and get a shadow box from your local art supply store and arrange pictures or artifacts of your relationship around it to let others who see it know what you’re talking about. You know she’s going to show it off anyways, right?
âÂ?¢Give her the day off. Something as simple as scrambled eggs and toast can be a welcome change for an over-worked mother. Ask her what she’d like and tell her that she’s not to lift a finger in the kitchen that morning. Clean her house. No one likes to clean – so for a day, suck it up and scrub that tub. She’ll appreciate it and feel like a queen who won’t have to lift a finger the whole day.
For the gardening types, buy her a plant and put it in the garden together. That new rose bush or fern will be a constant reminder of the wonderful person she raised.
âÂ?¢Give her a history lesson on her own life – taking pictures from her youth right up until the day before and put them in a scrapbook for her to reminisce and tell stories about.
And lastly
âÂ?¢Write down how much she means to you and what you’ve learned from her. Everything from tying your shoes to how you deal with the guy who just cut you off on the freeway. If you have a wonderful memory, take a minute and write it down. Nothing makes a mom feel better than to know that all those years of helping you grow up made a difference in the world. Do this over a couple of days to accumulate a significant amount of content.
Whatever you do for Mother’s Day, just make sure you tell your Mom you love her. If possible, give her a hug and a kiss. This is the woman that helped to give you life, it’s time you let her know how much you appreciate it.
