The Grande is the largest theater in Raleigh with sixteen different big screen options. In addition to huge screens the Grande has stadium style seating and a state of the art sound system. The Mission Valley Theater is an old style theater that is survived by the college campus that rests nearby. Mission Valley will get all the same movies the other theaters in town will, but it has small screens and old style seating. A perk of mission valley is that they allow you to bring in coffee from the coffee shop “Cup of Joe” next door, which can be a great movie time treat. The theater is staffed and frequented by almost entirely college students, so it can be a good place to meet new people as well.

The Rialto’s claim to fame is its Friday midnight weekly showing of the Rocky Horror Picture show. Those who come to watch the movie often come dressed in movie attire, and act out parts of the movie as it happens. This cult classic can be fun when experienced through the eyes of the Rialto. The rest of the time, the Rialto is Raleigh’s art theater. The theater shows primarily independent movies that aren’t picked up by the huge theaters and caters to an older crowd of movie goers on Friday and Saturday nights.
The theater only has one single theater, which are an old style and one single line box office. Inside you can purchase alcoholic beverage to enjoy while watching your film, as well as the traditional movie fare of popcorn and soda.

If you love political movies, then you will be a fan of the Colony. Owned by the same person as the Rialto the colony strives to show films that go against the mainstream films shown in others larger theaters. This small two theater cinema usually shows independent films, and will pick up any politically focused independent films that may pass through the area.
The theater is an older style of theater and offers alcoholic beverages as well as soda and popcorn to movie goers.
