Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser! It Really is as Good as They Claim!

You know his name. You could probably identify him more easily than your second cousin! Mr. Clean has been around for decades, and has a sparkling reputation in the housekeeping community, but one of his new products, the Magic Eraser, makes some claims that seem pretty far fetched. I mean, honestly, removing magic marker from walls without actually repainting? Hmm. Well, allow me to share my experience with this “remarkable” product.

As a mother of three boys aged 15, 10, and 5, I have plenty of opportunity to clean up unusual messes. My youngest son, however, was the first to take to the walls of our home with markers. Not just any walls, the walls with paneling. Painted white. From as high as his arms could reach, all the way to the floor, he had put the tip of his thick-writing marker in the grooves between the panels and filled them with a beautiful shade of green. And blue. And red. All the way around the room. After removing the set of markers from his possession forever, I tried every cleaning product we had in the cupboard, one after another. They made very nice colorful streams as they ran down the wall, but barely even dulled the color. While taking a break to air the room of fumes, I happened to see a commercial for, you guessed it, Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser! One glance at that newly decorated room convinced me to give it a shot.

After reading the simple directions, I ran water over the unassuming white eraser and headed for the markered paneling. I gave it a couple passes at a medium scrub and stopped to check results. My jaw nearly hit the floor. The marker was almost gone. Just a couple more swipes and it was completely removed. Completely! The Magic Eraser really was magic! I was shocked, and excitedly finished up the rest of the room, breaking occasionally to rewet the eraser. By the time I got to the last panel the Magic Eraser itself was starting to crumble and come apart in pieces, as the package had said it would. Did I care!? I went into the kitchen, picked up the second Magic Eraser from the box and started looking around. A-ha! My husband’s finger prints in black grease at the handles of most of our white kitchen cabinets. They hadn’t responded to those other products either.

One swipe of the Magic Eraser and they were ancient history. That dirt that gets ground into the refrigerator handles? Vanished! The white porcelain sink? Glowing! Other substances I’ve found can’t stand up to the Magic Eraser are crayons, Kool-Aid stains (yes, I am too telling the truth!), coffee stains, permanent lipstick, and mildew in the shower. I found it does leave a film on shiny surfaces which needs to be wiped off, but this is disclosed on the package. I have never experienced such total satisfaction with any other product I have used in my home. The only problem I have with Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser is that I just can’t figure out how the heck it does that! What a truly amazing product! I highly recommend the Magic Eraser as perhaps the most effective cleaning tool on the market.
