My Review of the Smooth 7.1 Pro Treadmill
Smooth gives you a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor. You’ll get a 5 year warranty on all parts and 1 year of in home service at no additional charge.
The Smooth folds with a power mechanism which works at the touch of a button making it easy to fold.
The size of the belt and deck are really important. The rule of thumb is that the belt should be at least 17 inches by 50 inches. The Smooth’s is 20 inches by 54 inches. The Smooth 7.1 measures 73 inches by 39 inches.
Many machines now have names for their decks. Smooth has an exclusive Impression Shock Absorption Technology. There is no question that I felt no impact on this machine. After an hour my ankles hurt me but they do on any treadmill. That problem isn’t an indictment of this machine.
Smooth’s side handles are short but there is also a handle right in front . I find that I can hold on to it at high speeds and check my heart rate. It has a chest strap to monitor your heart rate if you do run and don’t want to use the sensors.
The machine inclines up to 15% and goes from .5 to 10 miles per hour which is more than most people need.
The Console, Programs, and Features
The Smooth 7.1 Pro lets me enter my weight and age making the readouts more accurate than machines that don’t have that feature. It also allows me to enter my height and sex!
On the console the readouts show me heart rate, time, distance, speed and calories burned.
Smooth gives you eight preset programs including working according to how much time you want to spend on the machine or by distance which works by first entering how long you want to run or walk and then the treadmill counts down from the distance you put in. The speed starts at 2mph and the resistance level starts at 0. Your time and calories count up from 0 and the distance down from the target distance you told the machine to do.
The Smooth 7.1 has a specific weight loss program which on other machines is called a fat burning program but Smooth’s is more sophisticated. There is a pre-set workout time of 24 minutes and speed and incline changes during the workout.

My Final Thoughts
There’s no doubt this is an excellent machine. It is made well and is very sturdy even at high speeds. Smooth is given high marks in the treadmill industry and has a terrific warranty.
