NFL: The Terrell Owens Show Stops in Dallas
However, people are still wondering will the Cowboys be just another statistic of the fabulous T.O. Show? Based on the circumstances and the people around him this year, I think Terrell Owens will finally get it together and focus only on football and not the “One Man Show” act that he is used to doing. In this Article, I will break down my reasons why the Dallas Cowboys will benefit from the addition of Terrell Owens.
Don’t Mess With the Tuna
When training camp begins for the Cowboys, everyone will be watching Terrell Owens and his every move. He is used to it however. Whenever a player entertains the media by doing sit-ups in his front lawn, a few cameras won’t bother him. The added attention may be a little bit too much for the rest of the team, but be assured the Head Coach Bill Parcells will make sure that everyone (including T.O.) is focused only on the game plan.
In my opinion, Parcells may one of the few coaches in the NFL that can and will handle any player who even thinks of themselves to be bigger than the team. Bill had to deal with the flamboyant and Lawrence Taylor back in the 80’s, but I can’t recall a time when L.T. ever stepped up and challenged the Tuna. Terrell Owens won’t either. I am pretty sure the Bill Parcells has already laid down the law to the team, reminding everyone that he is the boss.
The In-Your-Face Quarterback
Unlike Jeff Garcia and Donovan McNabb, Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsode is an in-your-face guy. He commands the huddle like a true leader should. I don’t see Terrell Owens disrespecting Bledsode throughout the season. There may be disagreements between Bledsode and Owens that only the media will blow out of proportion, but there will be a mutual respect between both competitors.
Money Is a Major Issue
If Owens wants a contract extension with the money he wants in the future, he will have to show the Cowboys that he can be a team player at all times and not just at his own convenience. I believe that Terrell truly learned his lesson from last year. Not only was he released from the Eagles halfway thru the season, but he lost out on all the money from the contract. He won’t let his mouth come between his money again. Although he may be one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, teams will definitely avoid him if he blows up in Dallas and he would be one of the greatest unemployed receivers.
This is the last chance T.O. may have before he is completely avoided by the entire NFL. Nobody wants a cancer on their team. Look for Terrell Owens to be a much better teammate with the Dallas Cowboys and a serious threat to every opponent.
