Naturally Rinse Away Oily Hair

Not only is my skin oily but so is more hair. I’m just an oily person, I guess. Many of us who suffer from oiliness have been told to eat a low-fat diet or eat more foods high in fatty acids to counteract the oily buildup. An oily scalp causes oily hair so a low fat diet would make sense, but instead of using medicated shampoos or conditioners to rinse away oily hair that may do more harm than good there are a number of natural ways to rinse away the oil.

There are many hair products that say the product gives you shiny, manageable hair but using lemon juice can produce the same results naturally. Using lemon juice rinse is one of the best natural products to rinse away oily hair. Here is how to make the rinse, squeeze the juice from two lemons into two cups of distilled water and put the mixture in a plastic bottle that has a sprayer. Apply the liquid evenly by massaging it throughout the scalp and hair. Leave the rinse in for 5-10 minutes depending on the thickness of your hair, then rinse with cool water.

Another natural treatment that will help to rinse away the excessive oil buildup in your hair is to use the herb horsetail. Horsetail works to strengthen the hair and rinses away excess oil. To make the rinse, boil 1 cup of distilled water, then put 2 tablespoons of dried horsetail in a small pan, pour the water over it and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain the liquid and put it into a plastic bottle with a sprayer to use as a rinse. Using a number of essential oils will help to rinse away oily hair. It may sound weird to use oils to rinse oil away, but essential oils don’t have an oily texture or build up and using essential oils to rinse away oily hair is similar to drinking more water to eliminate water retention.

Add four drops of rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus, cypress, or lemon oil in one ounce of evening primrose oil to your rinse. Essential oils cleanse and tone the hair rinsing away excessive oil. Using these natural treatments to rinse away oily hair is actually more beneficial than medicated shampoos or conditioners, which can result in drying the scalp and causing dandruff. Avoid using shampoos or conditioners that have sodium lauryl sulfate or nitrosodiethanolamine in them. These products dry out the scalp and do more harm than good. These natural rinses will not dry your scalp but will rinse away oily hair and cleanse and balance your hair. Also, when you rinse your hair make sure you use cool water. Hot water dries hair and cold water can cause hair to tangle quickly.
