New Twists, Same Old Stories in Season 4 of 24
Some people ask, why agent Jack Bauer ctu is so awesome. I respond by telling them how time and again when his country needs him he responds and saves the world once again. These new actors and actresses were mixed in with the old supporting actors and actresses along with American hero agent Jack Bauer ctu played by Kiefer Sutherland. Let’s look at the new people in Season 24 and their roles.
While Season 4 of 24 is one of the best Seasons of 24, many of the plot and story lines repeat and are very similar to the story lines in Seasons 1 through 3 of 24 on Fox. Here are the plot lines that repeated in which the directors of 24 and Kiefer Sutherland need to improve upon.
One recurring issue in 24 is the side story of a Counter Terrorist Unit Agent suffering from family issues. In Season 4 of 24, Counter Terrorist Unit Aaron Driscoe was troubled by her schizophrenic daughter Mia who eventually committed suicide. Throughout the early part of Season 4 of 24, Driscoe had to go see her daughter in a medical clinic because her daughter was crazy. This plot line is similar to the family issues that agent Jack Bauer ctu played by Kiefer Sutherland suffered with his daughter Kim and his wife who died.
Another repeating story is the death of a CTU agent. In Season 4, Edgar Stiles learns that his mother cannot be saved from the nuclear radiation from the one reactor that melted down as a result of the terrorists. Edgar feels helpless to save his mother and wants to go save her. However CTU director Aaron Driscoe prevented him from seeing his mother and told him to get back to work to save the world. This situation also happened with Brian from Season 3 of 24. Brian found out that his sister was going to die as a result of the disease from the hotel. Brian wanted to go to his sister but was convinced that he had to stay at the Counter Terrorist Unit to save the world.
Another recurring theme is a mole and spy working inside the Counter Terrorist Unit. Even though personal cell phones were prohibited from CTU because there was past trouble with spies, Ann Taylor who was working at CTU snuck in a personal cell phone and was secretly working for the terrorists. She tried to frame her terrorist activity on another person working at CTU but eventually she was found out and she was caught trying to flee the building. This storyline was the exact same situation with Nina Myers who was a terrorist and took information from CTU and then was caught trying to flee CTU.
Another repeating them is Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland disobeying orders and protocol. In the beginning of Season 4, agent Jack Bauer ctu is pursuing a lead to the terrorists. He disobeys orders and instead of bringing in the terrorist, he decides to follow him which goes against the orders of CTU director Driscoe. As usual, agent Jack Bauer ctu has a hunch pays off and he is able to successfully track down the other terrorists.
As Jack Bauer disobeys orders, he gets help from someone inside CTU who also disobeys the CTU director. In Season 4, that someone is Chloe who has earned the trust of agent Jack Bauer ctu. Eventually Chloe was discovered by Driscoe to be working with Jack Bauer and against her so she relieves Chloe of her duty. As usual once again Jack Bauer is allowed to get away with disobeying orders while Chloe takes the fall for his actions. In the end when Michele Dessler is reinstated as CTU director, Michele also reinstates Chloe to help her out and find the terrorists.
Each Season of 24 on Fox revolves around agent Jack Bauer ctu and once again Jack Bauer is faced with having to save the woman he loves. In Season 4, Audrey who Jack is in love with, is kidnapped by terrorists. The government wanted to bomb the area where Audrey and the Secretary of Defense were being held but Jack Bauer arrived in time and killed the terrorists and saved Audrey.
You almost want to feel sorry for Jack Bauer. He risks his life to save the woman he loves Audrey. Audrey had even told Jack that she loved him too. Then Jack saves Audrey’s life and when the mission is over, Audrey has the gall to say that she no longer loves Jack. That is ridiculous. Even before Jack Bauer killed her husband Paul, she had already committed herself to leaving Jack. I was actually glad that agent Jack Bauer CTU killed Paul. It gave Audrey a reason to cry. Even if Paul had lived she was not going back to Jack. It is unfortunate that Jack Bauer cannot find a woman who loves him for the true person he is while he does his job of saving the world.
