New York City Free Summer Concert Guide
New York City is a great place to see live music during the summer. From rock to reggae to classical music New York City has it all and many of the concerts are held in different parts of the city from parks to the beaches. In many cases the concerts are free of charge so you don’t have to deal with the outrageous prices of major concerts that generally occur during the summer months. Here is a list of summer concerts in New York City.
Ã?· New York Philharmonic in the Parks – This free event during the middle of July are performed in different parks in Manhattan, Queens, Long Island, the Bronx, and Staten Island. This is a great no cost venue to see some great classical music.
Ã?· Central Park Summerstage – There are many concerts at the Central Park Summerstage which is located at Rumsey Playfield. Some of the concerts are benefits but many are free of charge.
Ã?· NBC’s Today Show Summer Concerts – These free concerts are in selected mornings of April through July at the Rockefeller Center. There are some great performs and you even have a shot of being on TV.
Ã?· Cityparks Concerts – These free concerts are held in the neighborhoods of New York in different venues throughout the five boroughs as well as New Jersey.
Ã?· GMA’s Summer Concerts – These free concerts which run from May through August are in Bryant Park and are associated with the TV show Good Morning America. Some of America’s most popular acts appear at this venue throughout the summer.
Ã?· River to River Festival – These free concerts which run from May to September are all around New York close to the river and also has cultural activities as well as the concerts.
Ã?· Jones Beach – During the summer you can see poplar artists perform on tour at the Jones Beach Amphitheatre.
Ã?· World Financial Center Concerts – There are many concerts, free of charge, from June through September in many city locations such as WFC, Rockefeller Park, and Wagner Falls.
Ã?· Naumburg Orchestral Concerts – This free outdoor concerts series is America’s oldest free outdoor concert series and features semi classical music and symphonies playing classical music.
Ã?· Mostly Mozart – this Lincoln Center concert series is dedicated to the works of Mozart and is runs through the summer months of July and August.
Ã?· Lincoln Center Festival – This festival features ballet, music, and dance throughout the summer and many of the events are free of charge.
Ã?· JVC Jazz Fest – These free jazz concerts are held at several locations throughout the city in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Bluebird, and the Village Vanguard.
Ã?· Celebrate Brooklyn! – These free concerts which are on Friday and Saturday nights and sometimes on Wednesdays and Thursdays have performances at the Prospect Park Bandshell
Ã?· Jazzmobile – These free concerts can be seen throughout the Queens area as there is a wide array of Jazz to listen to.
Ã?· Chelsea Piers – Every Saturday and Sunday there are two live bands that play for free. The performances are held at the main plaza at Chelsea Piers which are located on the West Side at 23rd Street and the Hudson River
