Upstairs at Rose’s Turn is one of those great little piano bars that make you feel like you are part of the New York City crowd. Locals and tourists alike flock to this New York City piano bar. The crowd and the staff are all big fans of piano bars, which gives everyone something in common. Sometimes it just takes a common denominator among strangers to create a truly fun and memorable atmosphere. I highly recommend checking this bar out whether you are a tourists or a local. The atmosphere is casual, funky, and fun.

Don’t Tell Mama is a cool name for a cool New York City piano bar. Although I did not find anything to do there that I wouldn’t write home to Mom about, I did have high hopes. There were some cross dressers and eccentric characters that were worthy of a second glance, but in a progressive city like New York City, these are all everyday occurrences. If you are looking for a good piano bar in New York City that is perfect for a little happy hour than you should visit Don’t Tell Mama. Monday through Friday they offer a popular happy hour that brings crowds in by the droves.
I heard a lot of Broadway tunes at this piano bar, which is fitting in New York City. You can request songs as well, but you might better polish up on some of your show tunes and be prepared to sing along. The servers were especially entertaining at this piano bar. They sang along and really encourage the crowd to let loose. Don’t Tell Mama is located at 343 West 46th Street, New York, New York, 10036. They can be reached at (212) 757-0788.
Smalls is a very eclectic and small New York City piano bar. Their name is a great indicator about the size of their bar. The tiny size of this bar doesn’t stop music lovers of all walks of life from packing in though. Smalls is a great piano bar to hear all varieties of music. I heard everything from Georgia on My Mind to the expected Broadway show tunes.
The piano player was lively, the staff was busy, and the crowd was happy. All in all I would highly recommend Smalls if you are in New York City and craving a little piano music and some good drinks. Smalls piano bar does offer drink chips at the door. You can buy then in either a $10 amount or a $20 amount. I found this a little annoying, but I guess it is their thing. Smalls is located at 183 West 10th Street, New York, New York, 10014. They can be reached at (212) 675-7369.
