Nightlife in Burlington, Vermont

Burlington is a great college town located on the shores of Lake Champlain in northern Vermont. There is a great energy here that comes from the type of people who are drawn to Vermont’s only metropolitan area (approximation anyway). Although the nightlife in Burlington doesn’t approach that of the real city’s of the North East, it does have variety and several very appealing options depending on what you are looking for.

Ri-Ra (Irish Pub) Featuring a Beautiful Bar that was actually imported from Ireland, Ri-Ra is as close to St. Patrick’s homeland as your likely to get in Northern New England. With good food, good staff, and a crowd that varies widely in a age and interests, it is a great place to Knock back a Guinness or Bass and Mingle.

Metronome (Bar/Dance Club) Going out on a Saturday night? 80’s night at Metronome is the place to be, although you should arrive before 10:30 if you want to avoid a line. If you like to dance or people watch “Retronome” is perfect. If you are planning a bachelorette party call ahead and the staff her can set you up, get on the VIP list, Dance on the Bar, and have a champaign toast.

Higher Ground (Live Music) From Blues Traveler to Carbon Leaf, the music at Higher Ground is Amazing. They have two venues; the Ball Room with 2 bars, VIP sections, and capacity for five to eight hundred, and the Showcase lounge which is more intimate holding about three hundred. Its rumored that the renovations and sound system to create this venue were north of a million dollars. I say its the best spot in Burlington when they have a band you like. Check out there upcoming shows @ http://www.highergroundmusic.com/

Wine Works (No outside entertainment needed) Want a place on the quieter side to share a nice bottle of Cab with some friends? Straight out of some trendy movie, I always enjoy a stop at this little gem.

Half Bar (intimate) Upscale Martini bar that has a nice and cozy feel . The flavored Martinis are also usually a big hit with the fairer set.

Have fun!
