No Tax Holiday Makes for Great Back to School Shopping

Living in Bryson City requires you to drive to Sylva, North Carolina to do back to school shopping and the best place to go is Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart not only has some of the best prices, but has everything you need for school. Whether you’re a parent trying to send one or four kids to school or you’re a college student fighting to make ends meet, Wal-Mart will have what you need at a price you can afford. The best time to go do your back to school shopping is the first weekend of August. Wal-Mart always has a great sale going on at this time. A few items they always have are:

 Crayola crayons 4 for $1
 1 subject notebooks 7-10 for $1
 Jeans for $7
 T-Shirts for $5
Packs of pens and pencils for $0.97
Great deals of backpacks and lunchboxes
 Other great deals on clothes
 Great deals on computers

You will usually find other great deals that aren’t listed in their ad. The great thing about Wal-Mart is that even the items that aren’t on sale have cheap price tags. You can easily go to Wal-Mart and buy enough clothes for the school year for less than $200. With the great sales that happen the first weekend of August you can stock up on school supplies and have enough for the whole year. For example you could buy 50, one-subject, notebooks for $5-7! What a great deal. I highly suggest you stock up, even if you think you or your child won’t use them. Every time I’ve skipped on stocking up, I’ve regretted it. After the sale, notebooks cost 5-10 times more than the sales price.

There is one more advantage to shopping during the first weekend of August, in North Carolina. It’s called the No-Tax Holiday and for parents and college students it’s a blessing. For 2006, the No-Tax Holiday will be Friday the 4th through Sunday the 6th. This is huge! Parents and college students spend hundreds of dollars on back to school shopping and with a sales tax of 7% there is a lot to be saved, especially if you’re buying a computer. I know what you’re asking. What can you save money on? The No-Tax Holiday includes:

Clothing priced at $100 or less
Sports and recreational equipment priced at $50 or less
Computers priced at $3500 or less (a huge savings: $245 on a $3500 computer!)
Computer supplies (speakers, keyboards, etc) priced at $250 or less
School supplies (backpacks, pens, etc.) priced at $100 or less

Why would you not do your back to school shopping during the first weekend of August? The No-Tax Holiday is available at all stores in North Carolina, not just Wal-Mart. But with the sales Wal-Mart will be having, why not go to there?

Wal-Mart isn’t only the best place for back to school shopping in Sylva, North Carolina. With Wal-Mart’s all over the country (and other countries as well) you can enjoy the savings no matter where you live. I would highly suggest you search the internet to see if your state offers a No-Tax Holiday.
