North Dakota Bar Exam: A Basic Exam

The North Dakota Bar Exam is a three part professional exam that will challenge your memory, analysis skills, and your time management skills. It will include three different types of questions including multiple choice questions, performance test questions, and essay questions. This article will outline the basic information that you will need to prepare for the North Dakota Bar Exam, as well as direct you to other sources of information and free study materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for the North Dakota Bar Exam you only need to meet a few requirements. The first qualification is that the candidate has a law degree from an ABA approved law school. The second qualification is that the candidate be of good moral character. To meet this requirement you will need to undergo a criminal and financial background check. You will also need to be at least 18 years of age to sit for the exam. The final qualification is that the candidate takes the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, and passes it with a score of at least 80 points.

REGISTERING FOR THE EXAM

To register to sit for the North Dakota Bar Exam you will need to download, print out, complete, and submit an application package. These can be found on the North Dakota Supreme Court Committee’s website.

THE EXAM’S FORMAT

The North Dakota Bar Exam is a two day event that is given in Bismark each year during the last week of February and during the last week of July. On the first day of the North Dakota Bar Exam you will take the Multistate Essay Exam, which is made up of six essay questions. You will also be given two Multistate Performance Test questions. On the second day of the North Dakota Bar Exam you will take the Multistate Bar Exam, which consists of 200 multiple choice questions.
