Ocean City, Maryland: The Definition of Kid Friendly

Walt Disney World. Busch Gardens. Six Flags. These are all resorts that are centered around a theme park. Yes, it gets children’s attention and it gives them something to do, but it can give parents an unbelievable headache. Theme parks are one route to go on vacation, but it is not the only one. Beaches are nice too, but which one should you go to. There are just so many. One very respectable beach is in Ocean City, Maryland.

Ocean City, Maryland isn’t as publicized as the other beaches, but it has just as much to offer. great food, great entertainment, great fun. All at a reasonable cost. This resort is a fun for all ages type of place to go vacate to.

There are hundreds of great restaurants to appetize your taste buds. From the Olive Tree to BJ’s on the Water to Thrasher’s Boardwalk fries, you are certain to find a restaurant that the kids will love. They even have a Mcdonald’s and Burger King as a “last resort” restaurant. Great place for food lovers of all sorts.

There are many different types of entertainment as well. They have live entertainment in some of the local clubs in Ocean City, and also sometimes they offer live performances literally “on” the beach.Along with music, they have games on the boardwalk for children to enjoy and they have 2 amusment parks that start on the boardwalk. Trimper’s Rides starts inside once you get in from the blistering heat. It is both indoor and outdoor. The thrill rides are outside while the kiddie rides are for the most part inside with a few of them on the outside.

The other amusment park is called Pier Rides, and it is just that, Rides on the Pier. This isn’t really a good idea because there are only 6 or 7 rides and they only have a few kiddie rides so it is more so for teenagers than anyone else, but it still exists.

There is one more amusment park I have to mention, but it is somewhat of a drive, depending on where you are staying. It is called Jolly Roger’s amusment park and it is literally 3 parks but you have to pay seperatley to get into each one. There is one just for rides. This is Jolly Roger’s amusment park .They have a section just for kiddie rides in the front of the park and the other rides are scattered around the park. There is some shade, but it is sometimes hard to find. The next park is called Splash Mountain. This is a waterpark. It has kiddie pools, a wave pool, and lots of slides for the adventurous people in your family. The final park is Speedworld. It is a park built essentially for being able to race cars. Go carts, Craftsman trucks and Nextel cup cars are the main attractions.

The final thing you could do is go play a round or 2 or minature golf. There has got to be at least 10 different minature golf courses scattered around Ocean City. Trimper’s Rides and Jolly Roger both have their own minature golf courses. I personally believe that minature golfing is a must do when you come to Ocean City. Even some restaurants are getting into the act. Ember’s Seafood and Steakhouse have their own minature golf course right next door to their restaurant.

If you are looking for a kid friendly place to go on vacation this summer, I would strongly recommend Ocean City, Maryland. There is plenty of fantastic food, great entertainment, great laughs, and tons of fun. I’m sure your kids will thank you when they are older. I know I learned that from my parents.
