Oprah’s Book Club – Burnt Toast: And Other Philosophies of Life

Recently Desperate Housewife, Terri Hatcher has been very honest about her life and what it has been. Now she has written it all down in her new book Burnt Toast: And Other Philosophies of Life. From being a star in her early teens and twenties to becoming virtually unknown and then landing as a star of televisions Desperate Housewives Hatcher has run the gambit on life experience and all before she was 40. Now with her new biography comes a personal, heartfelt, and often very funny rendition of her thoughts on life and love.

In Hatcher’s book, she takes the reader on a trip through what her life has been, her insecurities and her thoughts on motherhood. Her writing is honest, funny and surprisingly insightful. Her road to self-acceptance has been a long one but as a single mother with all the same struggles most women have to juggle, life, love and raising a daughter, Hatcher seems to have come out on the other side. Hatcher hopes that her insights might inspire and motivate other women.

Reviews on Hatcher’s book have been good. It was chosen as one of the books for Oprah’s Book Club suggestions and Oprah herself had Hatcher on the show to discuss the book. Oprah sited a story about Hatcher’s interaction with her daughter as inspirational. Hatcher said that she tried to be honest and open about her life and has come to a point where she no longer worries about the little things. She cites turning 40 as one of the reasons for her life changes as well as a recent opportunity to be open about childhood sexual abuse she suffered.
