Organize Your Messy Garage Today!

One of the main reasons that most people tend to have messy garages is because they are not sure how they should organize them. Did you know that more than half of all Americans do not even park their cars in the garage because it is such a complete and utter mess? So, in order to organize it, where do you begin?

The main key to organizing your garage is separating the things that you do not want from the things that you know that you want. Once you have decided, the next thing that you need to do is get rid of all of the things that you no longer require. Until you do this, you will never successfully organize your garage because all of your junk will end up in the same place that it started- in a big pile with things that you need (which means that you will have to separate it again). So how do you get rid of the stuff that you do not need or want? Well, one of the best ways is to have a yard sale. It is better to make a few bucks from the stuff, if possible. If all of your junk does not sell in your yard sale, you can then throw it away- one thing you do not want to do is put it back in the garage. If you have used sports equipment, try taking it to a sports equipment store that buys used equipment. Although you may not earn a lot of money from it, you will make some and the best thing is that it will no longer be in your garage.

Garages provide much more wall and ceiling space to you than the inside of your home does. This is a very beneficial thing when you are looking to organize it because it will provide you with lots of space to add shelves for storage. You can install a storage shelf from the ceiling where you will be able to put things that you do not use often, such as camping gear, Christmas decorations, and other seasonal equipment. You can buy other shelves that you can line against the walls. On these shelves, you will be able to have storage for items such as spray cans, paint buckets, boxes, bags, and various other things.

You can also hang hooks- from the ceilings and the walls. From the ceiling hooks, you can hang you and your children’s bicycles. You can hang any shovels, rakes, and brooms. You can even place lawn chairs from these hooks or place them on the shelves.

One of the main things that you should keep in mind when you organize your garage is that you should not throw everything in one big pile. This is how clutter builds up- and clutter is exactly what you do not want to happen in your garage. So instead of throwing all of your tennis equipment, your golf equipment, your art supplies, and your tools together… it is important that you try to keep them organized according to what their purpose is. Put all of the golf equipment together, but be sure to keep it separated from all of the art supplies, and so on and so forth.
By getting your garage in order, you will feel much better and have an easier time locating the items that you need.
