Oscar Winner Partners with Organizations to Help Katrina Victims
The official online disaster relief auction offers everything from a customized 2005 Bentley to premieres and after-party tickets of Hollywood.
Charity Folks (charityfolks.com) has waived all selling fees in this auction to aid The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Charity Folks is the leading online auction venue. Increased competition is motivating nonprofits to diversity fundraising methods to attract more donors and improve stewardship. Charity Folks’ venue helps nonprofits revitalize donor bases, renew community support, broadcast their cause, and raise millions of dollars while offering donors a new way to help them, according to the organization’s website. Staff says their venue enables their nonprofit members to partner with corporate sponsors who have a genuine interest in their cause.
“Our venue consistently brings millions of visitors from all around the world which gives our members with a broader audience and a better means to promote their cause,” promotional materials read.
In April Charity Folks held an online auction to benefit children in Harlem and in February the organization did the same to help the Wildlife Conservation Society. Advance inquiries about the latter auction came from a dozen countries and from all walks of life.
According to liveandworkwell.com, disasters such as Hurricane Katrina can be particularly traumatic to children. The Volunteer Center of North Texas says that the single most important thing that lets people cope with a disaster is helping or getting help from other people and volunteers are an important part of any disaster plan. You can download a volunteer application at volunteernorthtexas.org. The agency reported on Sept. 6th that because immediate volunteer needs were not fully known at the time they had been asked to collect information on behalf of the agencies coordinating disaster relief efforts.
