Oust Those Odors Out – Sanitize Your Air

While in the home aisle of King Kullen, I discovered Oust Air Sanitizer. The front of the can reads, “Eliminates odors by killing odor-causing bacteria in the air.” It sounded like something that just might work, so I shelled out the $3.99 for the 10 oz. aerosol can. I chose the Outdoor scent. Oust Air Sanitizer is also available in Floral and Citrus scents.

Oust Air Sanitizer looks like your regular, run-of-the-mill air freshener. Believe me, dear reader, looks can be deceiving. First of all, you don’t use it like a regular, point and spray air freshener. There are actually directions on the can:

To temporarily reduce airborne odor-causing bacteria and eliminate odors in an average-size room (12′ x 12′ x 9′), close all doors, windows, and air vents and spray product upward in center of room for 10 seconds. For maximum effectiveness, relative humidity should be between 45% and 70%. Resume normal room ventilation after spray has settled.

Usually, you just spray and move the can in a sweeping motion. I mean, 10 seconds is a LONG time to spray something! But, you know what? It works. It really, really works– even on that nasty doggie odor. The refreshing scent stays around for a long time, too. Even when the fresh scent is gone, the nasty odor doesn’t come back in full-force. Since Oust reduces the number of airborne bacteria in the room, there isn’t as strong of an odor.

You would think that spraying an aerosol can for 10 seconds each time you use it would make the product disappear faster. Actually, it doesn’t. This one can of Oust Air Sanitizer has already lasted four times as long as that can of Febreze Air Effects I used when we first moved in. You see, the air is fresher and sanitized even after your first use, so you don’t have to use it so much. With other products, you spray whenever the odors come back. With Oust, you’re actually eliminating the odors.

Oust Air Sanitizer is, by far, the best air freshener / sanitizer that I have ever used. For just $3.99, it’s a real bargain. Your home will be smelling fresh in no time at all.
