Over 30 Things You Can Do with Dryer Sheets

Dryer sheets are always a must to have on hand when you want to freshen and save money at the same time. Don’t worry if you do not have a dryer; these squares of freshness aren’t just for your clothes! There are many, many things that you can do with dryer sheets that I will tell you about, and then you’ll start coming up with your own ideas of things to do with them. I found a box of 105 “Cuddle Soft” brand dryer sheets for $2 at Family Dollar, so a little can go a long way! It’s usually the little things that make a difference.

To start off with, there are a lot of places that you can simply place your dryer sheets in different areas to have a fresh, clean smell throughout your home, office, garage, workplace, vehicle, just about anywhere you can think of! Here is a list of example of some places that you can place them…

In the Home, you can place them:

-on air filters for your heating and cooling system, just use a bobby pin, trash bag tie, or even a Christmas ornament hook to stick into place (these usually sell as spongy squares for roughly $3.00 a piece, so using dryer sheets instead of these will save alot of money!)

-in closets

-on shelves

-under items, such as boxes or containers that are on wire racks or shelves

-behind or under couches and chairs

-behind hanging pictures or clocks (just stick on tack or nail then hang picture over it)

-inside storage boxes

-in between folded clothes being stored

-under sinks

-in cabinets and drawers

-hang them on the little strap hooks that are on clothes hangers underneath your shirts

-under doilies

-in the medicine cabinet

-behind tapestries or quilt hangings

-inside the compartment for the bag in your vacuum cleaner, just tape it to the bag / or you can tape a sheet over the vent on your vacuum that blows the air out, giving a freshener every time you vacuum!

In the Office, you can place them:

-inside the drawers and cabinets

-under coffeemakers…when they warm up it will freshener even more! (just make sure they don’t get too hot)

-behind file cabinets (just slip them in the crack in-between the cabinet and the wall, they will fall right in)

-under computer keyboards

-any place storage is necessary

In the Garage, you can place them:

-in tool chests, cabinets, and drawers

-on tack boards and hanging hook boards

In your Vehicle, you can place them:

-under the seats

-under floor-mats

-in the trunk

-behind fold up arm-rests

-in front of air vents…Slip a corner of the sheet through on of the slits and pull it back out another slit using tweezers then secure the two ends with a rubber-band / or wrap sheet around a pipe-cleaner and shape it into a ‘U’, thread it into a vent slit and out another then secure by twisting the two ends of the pipe-cleaner together) This is cheaper than buying those clip on vent fresheners that can cost from $2.00 to $5.00 a piece. You can also do this by hooking a sheet to the vent using a trash bag tie.

-in the glove box

-in the sun visors when they’re closed

Another helpful, money-saving thing you can do with dryer sheets is to make your own Fabric Freshener. Let’s face it, some of those brands can be rather pricey, so why not just make your own using a spray bottle and 3 simple ingredients in 3 easy steps!…

Step 1. Put 2-4 dryer sheets (depending on how strong you want the scent) into the spray bottle.

Step 2. Add 1 tsp. rubbing alcohol (to distribute scent and water)

Step 3. Fill the spray bottle with warm water.

Now, just shake to distribute and spray on your fabrics, furniture, curtains, carpet…whatever you wish!

You can also make your own Liquid Potpourri. If you have one of those plug-in liquid potpourri warmers that look like little crock-pots, you can put a couple dryer sheets in one and fill it with warm water. Plug it in, let it warm the water and enjoy the nice, fresh scent the dryer sheet produces throughout the area!

You can also tuck the corner of a dryer sheet under a vent in the floor. Lift up the corner of the vent and lay it back down on the corner of a dryer sheet effectively leaving the sheet hanging down inside the vent. Every time the heat or air kicks on, it will blow a rush of freshness into that specific room.

These have been some example, and once you start, you’ll find all kinds of places to put your dryer sheets and ways to use them. hope this has given you some helpful ideas and ways to save money…enjoy!
