Party Ideas for Preteen Girls
A cool and memorable birthday party for preteen girls aged 8-12 can be challenging to throw. They’re too old for the playground but not ready for teenage activities. Here are several ideas to make sure your preteen daughter’s birthday will be a successful party.
1. Roller Skating Party – Your local skating rink will have different birthday party packages to choose from. Usually they will have a party room that you can reserve with a host/hostess to run the party. The group of kids should get skate admission and rental, food, beverages, cake and ice cream, game tokens and more. Check with your local rink for details.
2. Pottery Party – Pottery painting parties are becoming very popular. Many pottery places have a private room for birthday parties. Kids will get to make and take their own personalized plate or bowl. They normally ask that you bring your own food and decorations. It depends on the place so call them for details. At the end of the party each child will have their creation fired in the kiln for a permanent souvenir from the party.
3. A Tea Party – This is a great idea for the younger preteen girls. The girls dress up in their Sunday best dresses and are served a real tea time. You can either turn your own home or see if there is a local tea place that offers tea parties for girls. If you decide to do it in your own home just set up some kids size tables with white fabrics, fresh flowers and formal tea party set. Serve tea or juice in a teapot along with finger sandwiches (heart-shaped bologna or peanut butter and jelly). A nice finish to the party would be a teapot shaped cake. After tea time, you could have a fashion show so that each girl can show off her outfit or make a craft. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures.
4. A Pool Party – Local pools will allow groups to reserve the swimming pool for a short time. They usually will provide a lifeguard and staff who keep an eye on the kids. They may have a party room or picnic area that is close to the changing areas/restrooms where you can set-up decorations, snacks and cake.
5. A Bowling Party – Most areas will have a bowling alley. The kids get shoe rental and get to bowl all they want for a certain amount of time. Some will even supply the decorations, plates, balloons and drinks. You may have to provide the cake. Most bowling alleys have an arcade so the kids will get to play video games.
These are a few ideas that should leave your preteen daughter with some great memories. The main thing to remember is that your little girl is growing up so include her on the party plans. See what kind of a party she would like to throw. Make the day about her and the party will be a great success!
