Pittsburgh’s La Roche College-Hidden Gem
La Roche College is a Catholic institution of higher learning, which was founded in 1963 by the Sisters of Divine Providence. Students that are looking for a top notch education in an intimate learning environment thrive at La Roche College. The school does a great job of keeping the class sizes manageable, meaning that every student gets the type of attention that they deserve.
The college is currently expanding its marketing campaign in order to get enrollment numbers up. At this time, there are students at La Roche from 22 different states, and 28 different countries. La Roche is also one of the most popular commuter colleges in the Pittsburgh area. About 50% of students commute, while the other 50% live on campus.
One thing that La Roche College offers, that many others do not, is the Pacem In Terris program. This program is meant to bring students to La Roche from third world and developing countries from all over the world. The Pacem In Terris program allows La Roche to be one of the most ethnically diverse colleges in the entire United States.
Today, La Roche offers more than 50 undergraduate majors, and 20 undergraduate minors. They also offer three graduate programs for students that are looking to continue their education. The school offers 10 intercollegiate athletic programs that compete at the Division III level.
Even though La Roche College is relatively unknown at this time, school officials are working hard to make sure this changes over the next few years.
