Poetry, fiction and non-fiction writers eager to share their prized creative works with the public while also raking in some potential prize money will be glad to know that the month of November holds such opportunities. Contests open to poets who have, and even those who have not, been previously published abound. Here’s some with Nov. 30 deadlines:

Bear Star Press offers Mountain Time Zone residents the chance to enter poetry collections for a chance to win the Dorothy Brunsman Poetry Prize of $1,000. Deadline for entry is Nov. 30 with an entry fee of $20 required. Entries should be between 50 to 65 pages in length.

Enter the A. Poulin Jr. Poetry Prize by BOA Editions if you have never published a book of poetry before. Deadline is Nov. 30 and the entry fee is $25 for a chance to win $1,500 and the publication of your 48 to 100-page manuscript.

Looking for a contest with zero entry fee cost? The University of North Texas has one called the Rilke Prize, which puts $10,000 in the winner’s hands, but the catch is that the book has to have been published the preceding year between Nov. 1, 2012 and Oct. 31, 2013. Deadline for entries is Nov. 30.

A poet of national recognition will judge which White Pine Press poetry contest entrant takes home a cash prize of $1,000 for their 60- to 80-page manuscript of poetry this year. Deadline is Nov. 30; entry fee of $20 required at time of submission.
