Product Review: Bissell Powersteamer Powerbrush Deep Cleaner
The Bissell Powersteamer Powerbursh deep cleaner comes with a tough stain brush for cleaning upholstery. A 16oz. floor cleaner and a 16oz. tough stain pre-treat are also included in the box. Bissell recommends using their products in the deep cleaner, but any rug cleaner will work. One of the great things about the Bissell is the design of the Tank-in-Tank they use to collect water. The Tank-in-Tank is designed like a U-shaped bucket. Inside the bucket is a bag that Bissell calls the bladder. When you fill the deep cleaner with hot tap water the bag fills up. Once you begin deep cleaning the carpets the dirty water is sucked up into the hollow area around the bag. The last deep cleaner we used had only one container to collect the clean and dirty water. Towards the end of the cleaning process, dirty water was spraying onto the carpet. With the design of Bissel’s Tank-in-Tank, only clean water sprays onto the carpet. The Tank-in-Tank is easily removed, and carries like a bucket for rinsing out and adding more water to it. The Bissell Powersteamer Powerbrush deep cleaner has a flow indicator to let you know when to refill cleaning fluid or water. During normal operation the flow indicator will spin. When the flow indicator stops spinning it is time for a refill.
The cleaning fluid container could be a little larger. I can usually clean one bedroom with a tank of water, but end up having to stop to refill with more cleaning fluid. However, that inconvenience is slight considering how well the Bissell deep cleans. The Bissell Powersteamer Powerbrush deep cleaner has a twelve-inch cleaning path. There is also a power operated brush roll that helps to lift dirt and grime from carpets. I noticed a change in my carpet’s color immediately after cleaning the first twelve-inch row. There are three settings on the deep cleaner. You can choose water only for gentle cleaning or for rinsing the carpet. The normal mode cleans normal amounts of dirt and provides a thorough clean. The high traffic mode is for tough grime and soil deep down in the carpet. Using high traffic mode first and then going over it again the next day in normal mode makes the carpets shine.
The only thing I am not happy with about this deep cleaner is the tough stain brush it comes with. I tried using it on my couches but ended up with a watery mess. There is a dial on the deep cleaner that you flip to the tools option to use the scrub brush. When I squeezed the trigger after putting the scrub brush on the couch, a whole bunch of water came out but didn’t suck up. I had to go over it quite a few times to get it from soaking wet to damp. It took at least 4 hours for it to completely dry and it was one tiny test spot. Therefore, I would not recommend the Bissell Powersteamer Powerbrush as an upholstery cleaner, but it is a great deep cleaner for carpets.
