Product Review: Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed with Built in Pump

Camping equipment does not have to be uncomfortable or difficult to use. The Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed with Built In Pump, will solve all camping bed needs and even a few needs around the house.

Let’s face it, consumers, bedding is expensive. When I recently found myself in need of an extra bed set, I knew I could not afford the high price of a queen sized mattress and box spring set. I chose the Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed with Built In Pump. I am forever glad I did.

The Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed with Built In Pump measures 71″ long, 61″ wide and 18″ high. The height of this double high air bed is equivalent to a normal queen mattress.

One of the best parts of this air mattress, is the Built In Pump. The pump runs on C batteries and quickly inflates the mattress in under 3 minutes. The pump is quiet and strong, and allows you to pump the air mattress to the most comfortable firmness and then simply turn the pump off. If you later decide you want a firmer mattress, just turn the pump back on and add more air. On the other hand, if you want a softer mattress, all you have to do is let a little air out and voila. This mattress is completely customizable to everyones firmness and softness levels.

For a portable bedding solution, the Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed folds down completely for storage and transport, in the provided backpack. The bed weighs about 18 pounds with the pump, which is perfect for using at a campsite close to your vehicle. If, on the other hand, you will be hiking for a bit before setting up camp, the Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed may be a bit too heavy.

The soft suede top was also a great feature. Not only is it comfortable, but it helps to keep the standard Queen sheets in place. I was sure sheet slippage would be a problem, due to the slick nature of plastic. With the suede top, the sheets never slipped and the comfort level was certainly comparable to a traditional Queen mattress.

The only negative I found, about the Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed, was the battery life. The pump drained a set of batteries in only three inflations. So, if a consumer were to use this unit for camping over an extended period of time, the cost of battery replacement may not be worth the money. When I inflated the Queen Air Bed with a hand held double quick pump, as a test for campers, inflation was complete in a little more than 15 minutes. I am sure the time would be different with multiple pumpers.

The Coleman Queen Double Quick Air Bed is one great consumer product. Due to the units heavy weight and high battery usage, this air mattress may be more suitable for home usage than for camping, but is still a great product. Whether you need a quick fix for unexpected guests, or a long term queen mattress, the Coleman Queen Double High Air Bed will solve your problems. This air mattress earns three out of five stars.
