Project Runway Season 3 Predictions

How much do you know about Project Runway? Take the Definitive Project Runway Quiz to find out!

Project Runway Season 3 began in mid-July and undoubtedly fans of the show are already lining up their predictions. After last year’s season-ending duel between cocky Santino and dull-ish Chole, Season 3 of Project Runway has fans look for the next crop of ace designers and annoying ego-cases.

Hosted by Heidi Klum, judged by Klum and fashion experts like Nina Garcia of Elle, and moderated by Parson’s School of Design guru Tim Gunn, Season 3 of Project Runway holds to the formula that has made it a hit. Each week, design hopefuls of varying degrees of talent (and tactâÂ?¦) are asked to complete a project. We watch them sketch, sew, create and sometimes crumble as Gunn keeps an eye on them.

Their final fashion creations are then displayed on the runway for the judges and evaluated. A winner recieves immunity for the next week. A loser is sent packing with just a quick “you’re outâÂ?¦auf weiderschen” – or however it’s spelled – from Klum. The winner of the show gets money to start a line, a job, and a layout in a magazine. Who will ultimately be “in” for keeps? That’s the central question of Project Runway.

With only a few episodes done, it’s too early to really tell who’s got the best all-around design “stuff” that will earn her or him the pot of gold at the end of the runway, but there are a few predictions about personalities that can already be made:

On Borrowed Time?

While eccentric and dramatic Malan seemed his pagent gown was may have been too eccentric and dramatic, and he and his odd sob stories from childhood got the boot. But, personality-wise, he didn’t seem the most likely to leave contestant that second episode.

That honor would go to Angela- I think that was her name – who I can only describe as one of those women who nobody quite likes. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because she’s eccentric without the delivery. Maybe it’s because she seems immature (though she’s not a kid) and scatter brained. You just sort of get the feeling she shouldn’t be there and that makes her a likely next lamb to the Klum-led slaughter.

Great or Grating?

Who are some of the Project Runway Season 3 contestants who made a good first-few-episodes impression? Laura, an architecht and German-born Uli stood out as in-charge women with ideas and professionalism. Keith stood out as a guy who defended his upbeat but ultra-confident attitude with an ability to deliver; winning episode one’s challenge.

Bradley stood out for looking somewhat like a homeless guy on drugs, but also was successful in the competition. And the under-thirty crowd was beginning to make noise: led by Michael, who didn’t cop much attitude by ably backed up Laura, and Katherine, who, though not a team leader made it clear she wasn’t going to put up with any malarky.

On the other hand, next to Angela, Vincent came out of the gate as the biggest potential annoyer of Project Runway Season 3., at least to this reviewer. Yes, he had to work with a totally unprofessional weirdo, but, anyone watching the show also realized Vincent didn’t exactly play well with others and did almost as poorly as Angela did in the “team” aspect of the challenge. Not sure why he wasn’t called on it. What was more annoying, though, was his continually alternating self-pitying, self-praising, and man, he’s 49? He acted like he was fresh out of school or something.

Another early annoyer? Well, I don’t know if he’ll win or not, but pagent-designer from Oklahoma Kayne sort of got off to a good start as being just a little too cute and happy and happy with himself. As the first challenge was designing a pagent dress, and that’s his main thing, he treated us to about fifty declarations that he’d been involved with about a billion pagents. We heard you the first time. Of course, he won the Project Runway Season 3, Episode 2 challenge, so, at least he put his evening wear where his mouth was.

There’s a long way down the runway to go, and the promise of the great conflicts and creations forthcoming will no doubt keep Bravo viewers tuned into Project Runway Season 3 right til the glamourous end (or start) of the fashion line.
