Quality Appliances Key to Kitchen Make-Over

It doesn’t matter if your in a studio, an apartment, a house or a yacht – your kitchen is typically the hub of the household. It’s important that your kitchen is inevitable, considering that most people socialize and congregate during and around meal times. Cleanliness can not be overstated when it comes to the kitchen, so start by giving your home-maker haven a total scrub down. Clean out the fridge, wipe down the grease, scrape the oven, scour the shelves. Then, and only then, can you really focus in on what needs to happen in phase two of your kitchen remodel.

You don’t need much, but what you do have should be well organized. Proper appliances in accessible places will make future cleaning way less painful of a process. In other words, don’t put the toaster you use every morning on the opposite side of where the coffee maker sits. Arrange a little basket with all your essentials next to the toaster: sugar, tea flavors, filters, etc. As long as it’s organized it will work as a display. Racks for glasses are a must, especially for your bar glasses; it helps keep them safe in addition to readiness.

Once the shelves have been lined, racks installed, labels mounted, your on your way. If your budget permits and your considering the installation of new shelving, I recommend glass cabinets. Especially in smaller kitchens, this addition will create a more open feeling throughout the room, and is an opportunity to tie in some chromatic subtleties. If blue is your color of choice stack the shelves with blue plates, visible through the glass. Your kitchen may however simply need a fresh coat of paint. It is amazing what a new shade of yellow or pristine white can do for any space, particularly a kitchen area.

Some nice finishing touches have to do with the quality of appliances and in the small details. It’s inexpensive yet effective to replace old handles, outlet protectors, dry racks, and a new kitchen rug. It’s more costly, but certainly worth the investment, to replace bigger fixtures: a corroded faucet that leaks with a nice stainless (the ones with the detachable hoses come in handy), an energy saving fridge is a good long term investment, and an updated microwave that doesn’t take up half your counter space would be a good place to start.

Like any space, the more you make it your own the better it will feel and look. Always remember that personal flare goes a long way and whether you paint the walls orange, display your affinity for wine, or opt for minimalism your place should reflect your personal style-not some magazine’s! With your kitchen clean, organized, and functional your bound to want to spend some more time preparing something delicious in it . Bon Apatit!
