Renting in Utah County, Utah – Resources to Make Your Apartment Hunt Easier
Finding a place to rent is always a hassle. You have to wade through tons of classified ads as you buy paper after paper just hoping that you’ll find the right one, not wanting to go and walk through another hole in the wall. Having just finished an apartment hunt myself, I know the pain of the journey and wish to make your time easier. Here are some great resources for finding the right home without having to wade through all the paper.
The Daily Herald: The Daily Herald is the local
Utah
county paper. The easiest and best way to access its classified ads is at www.harktheherald.com (cute huh?) Here you will find a comprehensive listing of all the rentals available in
Utah
County
by category. Each one has information about the rental and contact information for further questions. The only problem with this listing is that you can’t change the order to suit your search. The listings are almost in chronological order, with the new listings on the last pages, but not always, so searching can be a little tricky. It does have some great information though and a lot of useful listings.
The
Deseret
News/Salt
Lake
Tribune
: Both of these major
Utah
newspapers have joined together in an overall real-estate website which can be accessed at www.desnews.com. This listing allows for detailed searches dependent on category and date of listing. This makes them easy to search through. The only problem with this search method is that it is a search from
Ogden
to Spanish Fork, so you have to weed through the unwanted listings. There is a lot of useful information to be found and it’s all in one place.
KSL: This television network is also a great marketplace for finding almost anything. When you visit www.ksl.com and click on classifieds there are many different categories to choose from. The real-estate listings allow you to search by category and also by price or age of home, apartment, or condo. This comes in handy if you’re trying to avoid breaking your wallet or being swallowed up by 70’s shag carpet. KSL also lists the newer listings up front in yellow, so if you’re a regular browser you can see what you’ve missed. The difficulty with this page is that you don’t know when the listing was actually posted, so you just have to guess and hope that it wasn’t posted two months ago and is already taken.
Craig’s List: This online listing is one of the best kept secrets on the internet. Craig’s list, located at www.craigslist.com, is a comprehensive classified listing for the entire country. Just click on your city and you’ll find all the information you need. The best thing about this listing is that it is updated every day and listings are categorized by the day they were posted. This makes it easy to search for the newer listings. I was surprised to see the number of people who posted on this search engine, considering that I’d never heard of it before. There is a plethora of information to be found on this simple sight, so don’t forget it when you’re on your search.
Searching for apartments, homes, or condos is always a difficult and time consuming task. I hope I have provided you with some good resources for finding your new home in
Utah
County
. By being on the internet, these resources will save you time, money, and newspaper. Take advantage of them and you’ll make your search a little less difficult. Happy hunting!
