Review: Ameriwood Western Alder Finish Changing Table

Some women think a changing table is not a necessary purchase, and for some its not, but the convenience of one is immeasurable for some, such as myself. Sure, its easy enough to change your baby on the phone, the couch, or wherever. This was not an option with me. My daughter was an emergency C-section, and expecting I’d have a natural birth, I didn’t even consider how hard it would be to move, how hard it would be to hunker down on the floor to change a diaper. Until we bought this changing table, my husband had to change most of the diapers. It simply hurt to much to bend and nearly impossible to stand back up.

I’m what you might call…stingy. I don’t like to pay for things that are of low-quality, or that I won’t get my value out of. So…I research. I came across the Ameriwood Western Changing Table on Walmart.com’s website and was very impressed. The finish was exactly what I wanted and the top wasn’t simply flat with a changing table on top. This changing table is equipped with three deep, easy glide drawers and a “mini closet” with three shelves. All this space provides a consumer with plenty of space for diaper-changing essentials, such as diapers, lotions, wipes. The drawers are right under the changing table for easy access to clothes and socks.

Afraid baby will fall off? They’ve got that cover with an adjustable safety strap to keep baby from dangerous falls. The foam changing pad is long enough to accomodate growing babies and right next to the changing area, raised above. I use it for a convenient place to set bottles, formula and wipes, so its right there and you don’t need to leave your child unattended.

Have I mentioned that the Ameriwood changing table is beautiful? It is a pleasant western alder finish, with sleek lines of simplistic elegance.

The only drawback to it was that it took my husband a few hours to put it together and was very frustrated with the difficulty level of assembling it. However, once it was done, he looked on it with pride and wanted to be the first one to change our daughter on it.

As changing tables go, this one is fair-priced at $140. Currently, it is only available online, but if you are looking for a simple, reasonable priced changing table with plenty of space, I would recommend this one. In the fifteen months since I had my child, I have never changed a diaper anywhere else – and I wouldn’t want to.
