Review: The Drury Inn in Frankenmuth, Michigan

The Drury Inn in Frankenmuth Michigan offers a touch of Bavaria with all the comforts of home.

Nestled in downtown Frankenmuth, The Drury Inn fits right in with its Bavarian Architecture and welcoming atmosphere. Upon arriving you will be greeted by friendly and helpful staff who make it clear they are there to make sure that your visit is one to be remembered.

All rooms come with high speed internet access so you can stay in touch with work, family or post pictures to your travel blog and become the envy of all your readers. If you don’t have a laptop with you, you can always use the one they provide for guests in lobby. The brochure says the kids are allowed to jump on the beds but it doesn’t state what defines kids so I figured that 40 was still not too old for me to jump and the bed so I decided to try them out. Without a doubt The Drury Inn has great beds for jumping up and down, make sure to try them out when you arrive.

Every room in the Drury Inn comes equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and hair dryer along with cable TV including HBO, CNN and ESPN. If you want to relax then just take a short walk down to the pool area where you can enjoy a nice whirlpool or go for a swim in the pool.

The Drury Inn is within walking distance of many Frankenmuth attractions and great shopping as well as a short drive to golf courses. Only two blocks away you can catch a riverboat tour or if you prefer less water you can always walk to St. Julian’s Winery for a tour and enjoy the wine tasting without worrying about driving back to the Inn as it is only a block away.
Of course if you don’t get a chance to try out the Winery you can always take advantage of the free happy hour inside The Drury Inn between 5:30 and 7 PM evening drinks are free. Do keep in mind free alcoholic beverages are limited to three per person. If you prefer something with less of a kick then take advantage of the free fountain drinks and soda along with a bag of fresh popcorn that is provided to all guests between the hours of 3PM and 10 PM with no additional charge. If you don’t wish to leave your room then why not enjoy the free in-room coffee service while you sit back and watch TV.

No need to worry about bringing a calling card to check on the kids as The Drury Inn also gives each guest sixty minutes of free long distance time, if you go over sixty minutes calls are only five cents per minute beyond your free hour. Simply pick up the phone and call. Local calls are always free.

Of course if you are like me, you decide that around midnight you want to go get something to eat, only to discover there is nothing open in Frankenmuth at such an hour simply walk down to the desk in your pajamas and ask the clerk of The Drury Inn for directions to the closest 24 hour restaurant. They are happy to oblige by finding every possible open restaurant less than ten miles away and give you door to door directions with the instructions “If you have any problems finding it, just call and I’ll get you there.” As he hands you card with the phone number.

Of course no morning is complete without a full hot breakfast and The Drury Inn knows that. Before you check out in the morning they serve up a full hot breakfast to guests. This is not your usual stale coffee roll and coffee breakfast but cooked food. You have a choice between eggs, Belgian waffles or biscuits and gravy every morning.

If you are planning a trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan anytime in the near future make sure you make your reservations at The Drury Inn.
