Review of 2006 Press Pass Legends Football Cards

2006 Press Pass Legends Football Cards are due to hit stores in July. Fans of Press Pass and collectors of college football cards are excited for this product as it is set to combine the top players of this year’s draft with some of the top players from the past. Each hobby box of 2006 Press Pass Legends Football Cards will be broken up into 3 mini boxes. Each mini box will contain 6 packs, and each pack will contain 5 cards. On average, every hobby box will include 5 Autographs and 1 Game Used Jersey Card. At least 2 of the 5 Autographs will be of Legends. Each pack will contain at least 1 sequentially numbered card as well.

The base set for 2006 Press Pass Legends Football Cards will consist of 100 total cards. The first 55 cards will feature this year’s top rookies. The next 40 cards will feature some of the Legends of college football. The final 5 cards in the set will feature Legendary Coaches.

Each of the cards in the base set will have several parallel versions. The parallel versions will combine to be inserted one per pack and are as follows:
Bronze: sequentially numbered to 999
Silver: sequentially numbered to 499
Gold: sequentially numbered to 249
Emerald: sequentially numbered to 99
Platinum: sequentially numbered to 1
Press Plates: sequentially numbered to 1

Each of the 100 base cards also has an autographed parallel version called Signature Series. These are found 1 out of every 5 packs.

2006 Press Pass Legends Football Cards includes all of the following inserts:

Alumni Association (feature two players from same school) – inserted 1 in every 30 packs
Alumni Association Ink – sequentially numbered to 50 or less

Legendary Legacy (feature top players in college football history) – inserted 1 in every 15 packs
Legendary Legacy Marks (Autographed) – sequentially numbered to 400 or less
Legendary Legacy Marks Platinum (Autographed) – sequentially numbered to 25

All Conference (features All Conference players from 2005) – inserted 1 in every 15 packs
All Conference Autos – sequentially numbered to 400 or less
All Conference Autos Platinum – sequentially numbered to 25

Player Threads (feature piece of Game Used Jersey from player on card) – inserted 1 in every 20 packs
Player Threads Platinum – sequentially numbered to 50

2006 Press Pass Legends looks like it may be a very nice product that will contain some high-end autographs. As is the problem with the regular Press Pass set, many collectors do not like to collect it since it is strictly a college football product. For college football fans and collectors though, this product may be one of the nicest to date. The Legends autographs may help this product gain more popularity than the basic Press Pass set.
