Review of Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Product Description
The plastic 23 ounce bottle is shaped like the rest of the Clorox toilet bowl cleaners (there are several varieties), with a an angled top that allows me to squirt the thick blue liquid directly under the rim. This is the hardest area for me to clean, but the design of this bottle really helps a lot.
The liquid is very thick, and sticks well to the porcelain bowl of my toilet. The dark blue color lets me know that I’ve reached all the areas that I am aiming for! The cleaner actually clings to the bowl, making my cleaning job much easier.
Facts
In reading the back label, Clorox makes these claims about their cleaner:
* The Teflon surface protector repels rust stains and toilet bowl ring
* Thick gel formula dissolves stains
* It deodorizes and leaves a fresh scent behind
* Leaves the bowl sanitary
* Safe for septic systems
* Will not stain bowl or leave dull residue
How To Use
The cap is childproof, and I found it a little hard to open. You must twist the cap counterclockwise one quarter turn. I found that squeezing the cap helped. (The cap won’t come off, so that’s a plus!). After applying the cleaner you should let it stand for 10 minutes because it will break down the stains for you. The Teflon protector coats the porcelain bowl with an invisible barrier to prevent stains from returning.
After you’ve let it sit the required time, brush well and flush.
My Thoughts
I like the fresh scent of this product, and how it leaves my bathroom smelling clean. After cleaning my toilet, the porcelain shines nicely, and I don’t have to go back and clean it again. If you’ve ever had this kind of experience with some cleaners, you know what I mean. It’s a exercise in futility!
We are on a septic system, and I have to be very careful about using any bleach – it kills the bacteria that my system needs to work properly. Many cleaning products do contain bleach, and that goes for toilet bowl cleaners. I know the reasoning behind it – killing germs. And that’s fine if you are on city sewer and water, but not if you have a septic system! I appreciate the fact that this formula is bleach FREE.
When I clean my bathroom, I tackle the toilet first. While the formula is clinging and going to work, I clean my sink, countertop and mirror. When I return to finish the toilet bowl there is still blue liquid there! Now that’s some powerful clinging action! Clorox cleaner leaves my toilet sparkling clean, and smelling clean. The angled dispenser makes this cleaner easy to use, and I give it my full recommendation.
It does contain organic acid, surfactants and fragrance. There is no phosphorus to harm the environment, and the plastic bottle is recyclable. (Not all plastics are!).
As with all cleaners, there are precautions to take when using Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner. Remember, this contains cleaning chemicals, so if you get it in your eyes, rinse with plenty of water for 15-minutes
If swallowed, drink a glass water. It may cause skin irritation, so wash hands after handling.
