My Thoughts
Build up of lint in my dryer has always been a concern of mine. I can often see the lint down inside the dryer vent, but can’t reach it to remove it. After my husband purchased this, I read an article saying you should not put anything down your dryer vents, because this just compacts the lint and causes even more of a fire hazard.
Well, shortly after reading that, my home daycare was inspected by the fire marshall, and I asked him specifically about that. He told me that the items I had in this kit would be very helpful in removing the excess lint from my vents, and that I should use it regularly. He was not at all concerned about it doing more harm than good.
The 10 foot long duct brush is round, and has extra wide bristles at the end that will help break up and remove lint buildup in the vent ducts. The handle is flexible to get into curved areas of your duct.
The yard long lint trap vent brush is narrow at the point, and widens toward the handle. It is also flexible and can go deep into the dryer vent to remove all that lint that you just can’t reach. This brush also works great for removing dirt and dust from under appliances such as washers, dryers, ovens and refrigerators.
The vacuum hose is also a great addition to this kit. The hose is a flat hose, that slides easier into the dryer vent and when attached to my vacuum, it pulls out an amazing (and shocking) amount of lint. It has a universal design that will attach to any standard vacuum.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that there are 15,500 fires, 10 deaths and 10 injuries every year from clothes dryer fires!
When I look at the lint that I am able to remove from my dryer, it scares me. The lint trap only catches a portion of the lint, and the rest is building up inside my vents and ducts. Using my Dryer Max on a regular basis not only reduce the potential of a fire hazard, but I would imagine that it will save me money on my gas bills and hopefully allow my dryer to last longer. I have been very pleased with my Dryer Max.
