Review of Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer

We first purchased a substandard juicer at Wal-Mart for $40 and it was virtually a waste of money. Our household had seen the late-night Jack LaLanne infomercial for his product, but I suppose at the time we thought the cheaper knock off may be just as good. After selling the first juicer at a yard sale, we broke down and spend the $100+ (including shipping) on a Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer.

When I opened the box, I was overwhelmed by all the directions and recipes. I headed to the farmer’s market and bought a huge amount of fruits and veggies for my trial run. Surprisingly enough, the Power Juicer was a vast improvement to its paltry imitator.

The first difference you notice is that the LaLanne Power Juicer doesn’t require the user to cut most fruits and veggies up. It can handle most things whole. I did have to cut up things with a pit or extremely hard veggies like whole beets. Other than that, I just put the entire item in the extra large chute. That was not the case with the substandard juicer. I had to cut everything just so it would fit down that tiny little hole that led to the blade. Without most of the cutting, the Power Juicer saved me time which I thought was great.

The second difference was the amount of juice versus the amount of pulp each machine produced. With my old juicer, sometimes I would have to empty the pulp receptacle before I even had a full glass of juice to consume. The pulp was wet and mushy. The LaLanne Power Juicer had produced a lot of juice from just a few fruits and vegetables that I had put into the machine. When I went to empty the pulp, it looked surprisingly different. The pulp was a lot dryer and less substantial. It appears that the Power Juicer has the capability of extracting more juice from each fruit or vegetable than the generic version.

The recipe book that is included with the machine is also excellent! It really sparked my imagination to come up with recipes of my own! The tropical bliss sorbet in the book was by far my favorite. It was interesting to see that you can actually use the juicer to make more than just juice. I also like the way the literature was written. It emphasizes a healthy, natural lifestyle, which I feel most of us have gotten away from. Compared to taking vitamins, juicing makes me feel much better because I don’t think my body absorbs pills and vitamins very well.

If you are in the market for a high-quality juicer with a powerful motor that gets the most juice out of your fruits and veggies, the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer is for you!
