Review of Soyajoy Soymilk Maker: Fresh, Delicious Soymilk is a Breeze to Make!

I’ve recently changed my diet to eat more healthy which includes drinking more soymilk. Although I find packaged soymilk from my local grocery store acceptable in taste, nothing beats the fresh, sweet taste of freshly prepared soymilk. Plus, many of the prepackaged soymilks are loaded with sugar which I wanted to avoid.

Much to my surprise while exploring a forum online, I discovered there is a quick and easy way to make soymilk right in your own kitchen! The Soyajoy Automatic Soymilk Maker takes much of the tedium out of making soymilk since it automatically heats and grinds the soybeans in an enclosed container. In the short time period of 15 minutes, you can have warm, fresh soymilk that is much more delicious than what you can buy prepackaged. Plus, you have all of the options for sweetening and flavoring with extracts, syrups etc to create your own unique soymilk creations.

Basically, here’s what you do to make your soymilk:

1. Presoak soybeans for around 8 hours or overnight. I just placed my soybeans into a container filled with water and put them in the refrigerator overnight. I simply refill the container as I use them so I always have presoaked soybeans available. By the way, soybeans are extremely inexpensive making your soymilk only pennies per serving.

2. Fill the metal cup included with your machine with the presoaked soybeans and attach to the grinder head of the soymilk machine. It can be a bit tricky to get it securely attached and locked.

3. Add clean water to the large metal cylinder that is attached to your machine. The inside canister has water level marks to guide you in the proper filling depth. Reattach the metal canister and press the start button.

4. Your machine will start to warm up indicating that it’s working properly. Allow it to run it’s cycle undisturbed. This will include several brief periods where the machine will emit a grinding noise as it puverizes the soybeans to extract the milk. In 15 minutes, prepare to taste delicious soymilk!

A nice perk is that you can not only make soymilk, but if you purchase a tofu press, you can make fresh tofu which is also much better than the store bought versions. When you order from Soyajoy, they offer the option of including a tofu press for around $5.00. I chose this option and have been fairly pleased.

I did quite a few price comparisons on different brands of soymilk makers before purchasing the Soyajoy and after extensive research, found they had the best price available PLUS free shipping. My unit arrived quickly and was nicely packaged with an instruction book and a 12 page book of recipes and suggestions for making the best use of my new soymilk maker. I was making delicious soymilk within an hour of receiving my new machine. Needless to say, soymilk has never tasted so good!
