Review of the Fisher-Price Kid Tough Digital Camera
The Kid Tough Digital Camera comes in two colors: blue version for boys and pink one for girls. It has a color LCD preview screen so kids can see the pictures they shot and decided to keep or delete them like a traditional digital camera. It has 8MB of memory so it will hold approximately 50 shots taken by your child. There is also and SD card slot for extra storage if you need it. The camera comes in a complete package that includes the USB cord, digital camera software, built-in flash, and a wrist strap.
The camera is operable by children as young as 3 years of age. It has dual handle grips that easily fit a set of young hands. To make it easy to take a picture, the camera also features a two eye viewfinder so your child doesn’t have to squint one eye to take the picture (something that is difficult for many young children). The navigational menu is so easy that even the smallest children that haven’t mastered reading quite yet can do it! The camera is also called “kid tough” for a reason! It is designed to withstands falls and any other accident that a pre-schooler may have with it and still work.
I like the camera because it takes great pictures. It has a 640 X 480 resolution, which makes beautiful 4″ X 6″ prints. As opposed to giving my godchildren disposable cameras as I have done in the past, the digital format ensures that I’m not wasting money developing pictures that my novice photographers didn’t quite get right. However, I will say that changing the batteries is a pain and requires a Phillips head screwdriver, so don’t expect your child to do it themselves. Other than that, I find that this camera is one of the best toys for children that Fisher-Price makes. We have even started a fun scrapbook of all of my godchild’s pictures that she took on holidays and all of our trips together. It has been a joy to see all the creativity, exploration, and fun it has incited!
