Ridding Your Home of Rodents

The worst kind of pest is the one who can steal your food and actually play you for a fool. If you live in New York you probably know what I am talking about. The rodents here are extra big, extra brave, and extra sneaky. They’re such menaces they don’t even mind stealing food right out in front of you. No matter how clean you are or how many holes you patch up they always find a way in. once they make their home in your house, they are almost impossible to get rid of.

Don’t ignore the problem

The longer you ignore the issue the worse it will get. Bring out the artillery. Set traps and bait stations everywhere until you seem them drop one by one. Bait stations are a good choice for eliminating large infestations underneath your house. Block any entrances or holes that might lead to the underneath of your house as well as gaps underneath doors that are larger than a half inch. You can install pieces of cut wood to fit the gaps underneath your door, this will stop rodents from entering. Rodents have flexible bodies and bones which make it easy for them to squeeze through a hole the size of your pinky finger. They will attempt to enter through any crack or crevice big enough for them to fit in.

They come invited or not

They can even make their way into your home through sewer lines and up into an open toilet. So keep those toilet lids closed. Sticky traps are also helpful if you don’t mind waiting for the rodent to die first, but that could take a while. Snap traps are quicker and more deficient, because they kill rodents almost immediately. Needless to say, leave no crumbs for them to much on and once you have eliminated them remove all of their fecal remnants so that other rodents can make out their scent. Rodent can be brave little menaces and many times they don’t even mind to run onto your kitchen counters and steal food remnants right in front of you. They spread pathogens and allergens and make their home in your attic and basements by tearing away at the insulation to make their nests. It’s important to eliminate them on sight because once they begin breeding they can create a whole rodent settlement fairly quickly. If you’re a pet person, a great way to keep rodents far away is to buy a cat. Rodents can smell cats from very far distances and will avoid them. Having a cat in your home is a sure way to keep them away.
