Romantic Date Restaurants Highlights of Dahlonega, Georgia

On a first impression, the small town of Dahlonega, GA may seem like a quiet little neighborhood that doesn’t have much to offer as far as unique and impressionable experiences. However, this is not the case. On the spotlight today; where to go in Dahlonega if you have a hot date, or to re-kindle the romantic flame.

Asides your usual fast food array of places to dine, there are quite a few locations in this small town that offer quite a bit. First on the list is a restaurant called Caruso’s. Caruso’s has the best of both worlds to offer, particularly in a town like Dahlonega. As you enter the establishment, you are faced with two choices. On your left, you have the restaruant, which is a quaint little Italian place, complete with checkered table cloths and candles on every table. The cuisine is your customary Italian, and the kitchen crew can whip up a pretty mean pizza. On your right you have the entrance to the bar, which is the host of events ranging from Trivia Tuesdays to Open Mic Fridays.

As far as romance goes, Caruso’s will make a nice choice, but only if your companion is not from Dahlonega. There have been a fair share of nasty rumors going around about failed sanitation reports and over-priced food, but if your date is from out of town then the atmosphere in this tiny little Italian joint is perfect.

Your second option is actually right across the street from your first choice, and coincidentally enough, is also an Italian restaurant. Piazza’s, which is owned and ran by the Piazza brothers, is by far my first choice for Italian dining in Dahlonega. The staff is polite and courteous, the atmosphere exudes class, but your wallet won’t be deflated upon exiting. There is no bar section, so the establishment is not known for it’s wild and crazy nights, but if you are looking for a place to have a romantic evening without leaving the city and going broke in the process, Piazza’s is a fine choice.

On the romantic scale, Piazza’s ranks high for anybody. It’s not quite as impressionable as the scenes and mood set in Caruso’s, but at the same time you won’t have to worry about running yourself into a hole with the bill.

The final establishment I will cover today is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from my first two. Right down the sidewalk from Piazza’s is a nice place called Pueblo’s. Pueblo’s, for all intents and purposes, is where it’s at when it comes to Mexican cuisine in Dahlonega. With the addition of a new seating area enclosed by only glass for the ceiling and walls, it offers the appearance of plenty of space without putting you too far away from your companion. The tables and booths are set up in traditional restaurant style, and each one is complemented with two of your standard white candles. The staff is friendly on more of a non-professional level, often making small talk and offering suggestions on dishes and side items. Also, for those of us who like a beer or two with our chimichangas, the domestic and foreign prices are some of the best in town.
When it comes to Romance, Pueblo’s is nice for those that don’t mind skipping the gooey stuff to have a good time. While Mexican isn’t always the first choice for a date, Pueblo’s mix of nice people and good food can make any date a fun and exciting one.
