Finding a sailing school in Northwest Florida is as easy as doing a little searching on the internet. Here are several to choose from, all with certified instructors.

Emerald Coast Sailing, located at Pensacola Beach, offers American Sailing Association (ASA) courses. These are Basic Keelboat Sailing ASA 101, Basic Coastal Cruising ASA 103, Bareboat Charter Certification ASA 104, Coastal Navigation ASA 105, Cruising Catamaran ASA 114 and Advanced Coastal Cruising ASA 106. Basic Keelboat Sailing is a 3-day course for $1,195 for two people. Basic Coastal Cruising is a 3-day course for $1,595 for two people. Bareboat Charter Certification is a 4-day course for $2,195 for two people. Coastal Navigation is a 3-day course for $395 for one person. Cruising Catamaran is a 3-day course for $1,695 for two people. Advanced Coastal Cruising is a 4-day course for two, which costs $2,395. Floridaze Sailing, located in Pensacola Florida, offers American Sailing Association courses ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing, ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising, ASA 104 Bareboat Chartering, as well as a 3-day combination class and a 5-day combination class. Basic Keelboat Sailing is offered as a 2-day private lesson for 2 people for $750, which includes one night on the boat. Basic Coastal Cruising is also a 2-day private lesson for two people for $850, which also includes one night on the boat. ASA 101 is a prerequisite for this course. Bareboat Chartering is a 3-day private lesson for two people for $1300. This price also includes two nights aboard the boat. Prerequisite for this course are ASA 101 and 103. The 3-day combination course for two people is $1300 and includes two nights aboard the boat where the course is taught. The preferred choice for most people is the 5-day combination, which includes five nights on the boat for $2300 for 2 people. Leisure Lessons are also offered, which is a half-day lesson for two people for $250. One other course offered here is Performance Sailing. This is a 1-day class for experienced students. Lanier Sailing Academy, located in Pensacola Bay, is another ASA certified sailing school. Students have the opportunity to take Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, Bareboat Chartering, Coastal Navigation and Advance Coastal Cruising. Reef Runner Sailing, located in Panama City Beach, operates an ASA accredited school. Courses offered here include ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing, which is $395 for one person or $750 for two. ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising, which is $395 for one person or $750 for two, ASA 104 Bareboat Chartering, which is $775 for one person or $1500 for two, ASA 105 Coastal Navigation, which is $150 for one person. St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, located in Panama City, offers adult sailing lessons taught by a US Sailing certified instructor. The courses offered here consist of 24 hours, taught both in the classroom and on the water. Objectives of these courses are to teach boating safety and boat handling as well as to raise weather and water awareness in addition to decreasing anxiety on the water. Topics covered in these courses are waterfront safety, wind and weather, knots and lines, rules of the road, rigging and unrigging as well as sailtrim and steering.
