as it never was before
an attack upon our people
that shook us to the core
Incomprehensible losses
splashed across every T.V. screen
we sat and watched in horror
wondering what does this mean…?
Every nightly news report
tells the stories of grief and pain
The worst American tragedy
so many lives lost in vain
Ground Zero mirrors a war zone
In the air the smell of death
Searching the rubble are our heroes
emulating this countrys strength
Citizens have joined together
to support the nations need
Our people finally brought close
despite nationality, race, or creed
As we begin to pick up the pieces
we shed tears for what we have lost
For us to stand united
innocent life has paid the cost…
