This French Door Kitchen Dining table will cost you about $100 or less, depending on how much you have to spend on your wood French Door. I find vintage wood French Door from $0 all the way to $45. Check the salvage yards and the alleys first to find the free wood French Door. You can make this entire Shabby Chic Kitchen Dining table in one day, but don’t forget to factor in the drying time for paint.

To Make a Kitchen Dining Table Out of a wood French Door you will need:

1 wood French Door

Plywood Sheet

2X4’s

Power Drill

Wood Screws

Wood legs

Primer

Paint

Piano Hinge

Now, the first step is to measure your wood French Door. I like to subtract one inch of the length and the width, so that when I build my Kitchen Dining table base I have a lip hanging over the top of the table.

Now, cut your 2X4’s to build a box that is slightly smaller than the length and width of your vintage French door.

Have your sheet of plywood cut to this same size.

Screw together the wood frame of 2X4’s. Attach the plywood sheet to the bottom of the frame you just built.

Now, flip this box over two that the plywood is on top. In each corner use your drill to pre drill a hole in ach corner. Be sure to hit the 2X4 frame you built. Now, screw in your pre made Kitchen Dining table wooden legs. You can buy pre made wood legs that are perfect for wood French Door Kitchen Dining tables and dining room tables at the home improvement store and even at Ikea.

Now, flip the wood French Door box over and stand it on your legs.

Now, attach your piano hinge to the top of the 2X4 frame.

Attach the other side of the piano hinge to the frame of the wood French Door.

The wood French Door will lay flat on top of the table creating the top surface of your Kitchen Dining table.

Now, I recommend sanding the wood surfaces lightly. Wipe the dust away and then prime the wood French Door Kitchen Dining table out.

Let this dry and then apply a shabby chic paint treatment. Crackle paint and milk paint are all great paint treatments for a vintage or shabby chic look.

For a contemporary shabby chic vintage look you could paint the wood French Door Kitchen Dining out in high gloss paint in a bright color like red.

Now, if you need some privacy in the wood French Door Kitchen Dining table and do not want anyone to see what you are storing inside you could apply some of that privacy sheeting made to adhere to window panes. You can buy it buy the roll at any hardware store. You could also spray on some frosting spray paint.

Another fun treatment to hide the stuff inside would be to have some photos blown up to the size of your vintage French door windowpanes. Place them inside of the wood French Door Kitchen Dining table so that they face up and out of the glass panes. Tape them in place from the inside with thin strips of duct tape.
