Sharkarosa Exotic Wildlife Refuge

The Pilot Point, TX ranch needs volunteers and donations and is a non-profit organization.

All money goes right back to the facility which rescues exotic wildlife according to their website, sharkarosa.com.

Items needed include: animal dishes, paper towels, trash containers, hand sanitizer, dishwashing solution, bleach, and vegetables/fruits for the animals.

The facility is South of Pilot Point on Massey Road.

In October a Cub Scout got to have one of the resident monkeys use his shoulder for a traveling pad as he checked the place out on a field trip.

The 126-acre property near Lake Ray Roberts in Denton County is also used to raise money for charity and education related to wild animals.

Edwards, who has been working since the age of 14, was a born entrepreneur and he said in a recent article that the ranch is his way of giving back to those who helped him.

For the most part, the ranch is still in progress.

Over three years ago the facility opened to the public for them to see the wonder that is the exotic animal.

Today Edwards is working on expansion.

Besides learning about the animals, kids visiting there can ride a minitrain or take a helicopter ride to a bounce house.

You can also book a party which includes a safari tour and a ranch visit.

The zebra is a favorite among some children.

Zebras can be classified into three species and several subspecies.

There are Plains Zebras and within that breed are Grant’s Zebra, Crawshay’s, Upper Zambezi, Chapman’s, Damara, Burchell’s, and Quagga. There is the Mountain Zebra which spawns the Cape Mountain Zebra and Hartmann’s Mountain.

There is a Quagga Project which is trying to recreate that breed which is now extinct through selective breeding.
